It's the ultimate appeal to authority. They don'tneed information because they have established in their minds that these people are above questioning. "Fact checkers are trustworthy and reliable because I've built them up to be so, and the pillow guy has no such reliability or authority therefore I can trust fact checkers and not pillow guy."
