Correct... That's the way "fortifying" elections works. Your mistake is presuming the current government and their enforcers are interested in defending democracy and the rights of the people. They are actively trying to suppress you, and would just as soon replace you and your job with a "refugee" that doesn't feel the same entitlement to a constitution or "bill of rights" telling them what they can't do.
