She has no business interfering with the Indian election and encouraging Indian farmers to revolt against their gov’t. She is guilty of election interference.
No one loves this person less than me, but why are the farmers revolting?
I’ve read several articles on why, and I have to say..... I am on their side. 60% of the people of India live by agricultural means, but the Indian govt wants to quit subsidizing what feeds the country and open them up to private buyers.
Who would that be? They hate China, so probably not China. Who else has the money to buy up all the land and tell people how to do their job and what crops they can grow? Look into almond farming- what it takes and where it’s “allowed” to be grown- which makes zero sense.
Maybe Greta’s reasoning is more about taking down Modi, than it is about agricultural rights.
Which means we shouldn’t automatically be against the citizens of that country, simply bc she has Modi pegged as an enemy, probably bc of his affinity for Trump.
The grain was and is still subsidized in the form of Minimum Support Price (MSP) which guarantees a minimum price for the produce, so if businesses buy the grain at lesser price than the MSP, the difference is paid for by the government to the farmers. The problem is that this MSP was never the law and the new government verbally accepted that they would continue MSP, so the status quo has not changed. The farmers want this to be put into the law (MSP results in substandard produce and stifles innovation), with other stuff in it like being allowed to burn stubble after the wheat has been harvested which turns Delhi into a gas chamber, 50% subsidy on Diesel, free electricity, etc.
It basically is a bunch of middlemen (belonging to leftist parties) protesting who got a cut of all the grain being sold till the new laws came into effect.
The farmers now are forming cooperatives and are selling to businesses directly, cutting out these middlemen. Thus these middlemen with the support of the leftist parties (which are in opposition now) are staging protests either with gullible farmers or paid protesters.

Wait wait wait wait
Can we keep an open mind?

Open to any input to where I might be wrong.
