Sounds like my brother. He got a JD, I got a CDL and started a trucking company. He works for a nonprofit making 30k a year and I make well north of 300k/yr. He still thinks I'm an idiot truck driver. meanwhile he is still in college debt while I am investing in real estate as my exit plan from the transportation business.

What's the best company/pathway for getting a CDL? Am thinking of retraining. Appreciate any sage advice. Thanks pede.

It's been too long since I was at an entry-level trucking company so I can't give you a specific company as they have changed a lot since I started. Any company that will hire someone without experience all kind of suck but you will have to endure at least one year with them before any better company will hire you. If you are business-oriented I would say buy a truck as soon as you can and lease on to Landstar, and maybe later on become an independent trucking company growing truck by truck. If running a business is not for you, I would gain the experience and either work for UPS, Walmart, or one of the LTL companies like Old Dominion or ABF.
