I'm getting sick of these fact-checks. Don't get me wrong; substantial evidence-based fact checks would be fucking fantastic and could sway my opinion on the existence of election fraud. The problem is that there have been no evidence-based debunkings of the evidence. Here's a breakdown of the NYT article, and it accurately represents some of the inadequacies I've seen in other "fact-checks" relating to this election.
- "There has been no evidence that votes were manipulated in the county, and a hand-counted audit of votes in December affirmed the outcome there."
There is a link to the Politifact fact-check on the Antrim forensic audit report. The debunking by Politifact is an appeal to authority with no explanation of how the report was wrong. The reference to the hand recount is insufficient as we don't know the processes or the transparency measures implemented in the recount. As an example, in Georgia, there is an affidavit that claims that the original election results were used to certify the audit. Obfuscated audits and recounts are just another appeal to authority veiled in performance art.
- "Election officials and cybersecurity experts have said there is no credible evidence that China helped Mr. Biden win the election."
Appeal to authority. The Politifact fact-check that is linked is also an appeal to authority. No actual data is presented to debunk the allegations.
- "Michigan election officials have said that ballots were “not scanned multiple times inappropriately.”"
Once again, appeal to authority. No footage to prove otherwise.
Mike Lindell interviewed experts and had them present their evidence. Maybe those experts are wrong; maybe they are lying. The only way we can know is if we get full investigations into their claims. But at least they are presenting data.
Going into conspiracy theory mode, I think they are training people to accept the word of "authoritative figures" without any expectation of seeing proof. Maybe I'm crazy.
They shouldn't be able to fact check something that is censored.. it seems unfair to make something hard to access and tell people it isnt true
I guess we could try a psyop by posting the fact-checks and telling people the claim that's being fact-checked doesn't exist...
