We need to return to our original form of republican democracy. That starts with limiting voting to people who have a clue. Land-owning white males is no longer reasonable, but getting the voting age back to 21 (and even better, making it 25) would make a huge difference. And put an absolute stop to absentee voting. People who can't get to the polls simply shouldn't be voting. Absentee voting inherently eliminates the right to cast a secret ballot, and currently people can be pressured/coerced into voting absentee so that their union boss. or religious cult leader, or abusive spouse, or (potentially abusive/neglectful) nursing home caregiver or home health aide, can see to it that they cast the "right" votes. And the whole concept of letting government seize money from people in order to redistribute it to others (in other words, to buy votes) needs to be smacked down as unconstitutional.
