There's 2 things we can take away from this if all it took was a single interview to determine these people weren't a threat and simply "participated in 1st A activities":

  • The FBI are completely inept at their jobs. This is the kind of information they should have beforehand, so they can be sure they have a good reason to actually interview these people, and not just go on wild fishing expeditions.

  • The FBI are trying to intimidate people for exercising their rights.

Or if you're as cynical as me it's probably some combination of both. Either way it's clear the FBI has gone completely rogue.

They are absolutely going on fishing expeditions to try to get people to incriminate themselves. It has happened to me before. Your best bet is to shut up, don't answer any of their questions, and bore them with unrelated stories until they leave
