My brother was a military physician, and 80% of his "cases", both stateside and in the ME, were 19-23 year-olds with back spasms and spinal misalignments from the daily marches with full packs. Which put them out of commission for weeks.
It would be better to do BOTH ab and back exercises with weights. Front and back have to be equally stong, or you are going to badly hurt, should there ever come a day where you need to carry a pack over some distance.
Yup, when I had a Marine buddy post a pic of a fat larper Patriot with the title, Meal Team Six reporting for duty I knew I needed to change. No alcohol, sugar, bread/carbs since been years...it fuckin sucks hahah but it's a start.

This is the way. Sugar and wheat increase inflammation which results in all sicknesses.
