I understand what you are saying. Truth be told, I grabbed the first link with the information of the numbers being adjusted. There are many other stories and reasons for the numbers being adjusted. It also makes sense that there would be a convenient excuse when the info could no longer be denied. If it's the truth, then I'm fine with it, but I don't want a convenient truth just because it's easier to process. I want the real truth even if it's not convenient or easy to process.
The fact is, the numbers were originally overstated and people were chastised and ridiculed for even bringing up the idea that the total numbers were too high, even when they were.
Discernment and discovery should never be punished, but even when the "Facts" were wrong, people weren't allowed to question them. Truth doesn't flourish in an environment of punishment, but lies do.
Also, please don't misunderstand my intentions. They are not to persuade or convince anyone. My intentions are to get people to look into things for themselves with a critical eye and questioning attitude. Don't simply assume a story is true because it's old or what was taught and definitely dont believe someone on a forum. I could be wrong or mistaken as well.
