similar to (or called) a zip gun. Illegal in my state, but damn near everything is.

I believe it is illegal in all states. This one is nonfunctional as it is internally corroded.

I don't think that's correct, you are allowed to manufacture your own firearms for personal use (not to sell or otherwise distribute) and I can't think of any federal statute this would violate.

Pen guns are specifically referred to on the gayTF's .gov page as examples of AOWs.

Making one of these without getting the same tax stamp required to buy one is a good way to get your dog killed in a raid.
