One thing Democrats are very good at is fielding candidates. They put up someone, ANYONE, for each office. Republican's don't do that. That needs to change. Even if it's unlikely that a Republican can win, we have to actually make the Dems work for their offices. No more handing over power.
I hope people do sign up. It is true that if there open PC spots that the County Chairman can take your form, sign it, and then turn it over to the county Board of Supervisors who then make the appointment official. (At least this is how it works in my County.)
yes, there are a lot of openings and ways we need to do things going forth. Unfortunately, you are right in this - the dems own the ways to win power systematically ... we need to get tougher. Plus we need to show up!
The problem with social sites and forums, even this one, people feel like they are contributing by making an original post or replying to a few comments. It has to go much deeper than that...

My committee was in disarray when I signed up--infighting that started way before me. I spent most of my time from May to the election getting things back up and running, and I was had only been a PC for a year.
Now we are working on outreach to new members, asking current members who don't show up to resign so others can have their positions. It's a process, but things are now in place for me to delegate, which is great. I call it a win. But the work is only starting!
