He said, "could you put on a mask?" She yelled back at him, "no I was wearing one until it made me sick! So no I'm not wearing one! I was like damn! Go grandma! She and I were like the only people in there without the mask!

The two I frequent are a small Ace Hardware chain and a regional farm and ranch chain.

Ace could do a lot more to help their franchisees, but they are either charging too much for their services or the services they offer don't work. They seem to have a big problem with online inventory and many stores drop it or never get it working in the first place.

With the regional chain, they seem to have lost their experienced managers at the headquarters and have chosen to replace them with recent college graduates. They do buy in bulk, but not in the right way. They'll have hundreds of one item, but none of related items. A few months later, they'll clearance the item they had hundreds of because they didn't sell through it, then never stock it again. Because of this, their plumbing and electrical section has shrunk to two aisles. At least the aisles are nice and wide, but nobody shops them because it's pointless. They could be cleaning up because many of their stores are in communities that are far from a better stocked option.

I went to high school with the guy who inherited the regional farm and ranch chain. He's going to have to hand it over to someone more qualified soon, but the damage is already done.

I can't figure Ace out. They have some plans that seem to work for stores in certain areas, but keep the rest of the stores hanging on by a thread.
