I quit wearing a mask. After almost a year of living under COVID restrictions, I have decided that I’ve seen enough.

In the beginning, when the virus first disrupted our lives I was just as scared and uncertain as everyone else. But after having COVID myself without incident and everyone I know has had it without incident, and after the cdc said you have 99.998% chance of surviving if you’re infected, I’ve decided that I’ve seen enough. I stopped wearing masks. And so should you. Period.

As long as we live in the United States of America we get to decide how we live. We need to exercise our rights. We start by stop wearing the mask.

Join me. Please. It’s up to us.

I wish people who post things like this would tell us what state they're from.

Or at least if there's a strong mask mandate in their state.

My state has a very strong mandate, primarily enforced by the local gestapo known as the Board of Health. Any business that doesn't aggressively enforce compliance gets shut down, and the gestapo run constant undercover operations (though they don't have to because people are eager to report noncompliance).

Of course there are many people who realize that it's bullshit. Some even agree with me that mandates make COVID worse (because forcing people to wear unwanted masks leads to reusing old masks, excessive touching of the face, and other unsanitary habits that make infection more likely).

But few are willing to sacrifice their livelihood to make a point. Especially when so many of our neighbors (and a majority of voters) are hopelessly terrified of the virus.

I live in Michigan. I don't wear a mask, except to the doctor, the dentist and to grab fast food. In the cases of the medical settings, I think it's appropriate since people there are already sick. In the food industry, they're taking a real hit already so I try to be polite. But I get accosted in the grocery store and just keep walking. I don't make my kids mask up anywhere either. We refuse to wear them at church. I don't know when I'll see some of my siblings again because they're so freaked out. I've lost friendships. I'm just glad my husband's work is super based and won't be requiring the vaxx or encouraging masks for anything but state mandated jobs.

I've heard that more important than state is area. So if you are in a rural area, the people there will be non-compliant with masking orders, more likely than not. If you're in a big city, you can be in Florida and still have mask nazis everywhere. Wherever you are, do you have access to a more rural or conservative area where you can support the movement?
