Cats are largely misunderstood, especially by people who’ve never owned one. Cats aren’t pack animals and are highly driven by territorial concerns, so they don’t respond the same way dogs do. But given the right treatment, they’re every bit as loving as dogs are.

I’ve read that, while dogs have a hierarchical mindset that leads to a very tight boss-employee relationship, cats’ emotional setup lends to more of a parent-child relationship. I don’t really know how that happened, they just figured out that they like us for some reason in the early agricultural era and decided to stick around. I mean you don’t have to get all purry and snuggly to hang around the edges of town and catch mice, but I’m glad they did.

I had 5 different dogs run at me from their yards when I went running today. I stopped and faced every one with my hand out and they all started licking it and letting me pet them. Even the big ass fatty pit bull lol. If only I was as good with humans...

<3 doggo's. Cat's are the lefties of the pet world - arrogant, all out for themselves and with an inflated ego.

Well that's because we specifically bred dogs to become exactly what we wanted. Not too far from stockholm syndrome. Personally I get weirded out by how obedient dogs are. Feels too much like buying something that we created to unconditionally love us. More comfortable around cats because it feels more like living with a peer rather than a master/slave dynamic.

Get a boxer. They have more of their own personality than some dogs.
