EDIT: I did NOT watch to find this out. Someone shared a link about it in a group chat that I am in on Telegram. I have never watched a single game and never will. Fuck the NFL.

The poem/song was dubbed "the black national anthem" by the NAACP early in the 20th century. The words are actually positive and inspiring. BLM is completely unworthy of the sentiments. It isn't a proper replacement for the actual national anthem, of course, but men like Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, etc. have truly embodied the spirit of the song.

It was never intended to replace Francis Scott Key's song. It's a song about black people overcoming the past and moving forward as Americans. No grievance politics to be found.
