Never give up. I'm old. Do you know how easy it would be for me to sit back and say I quit. Chances are I won't live long enough for it to get really bad. Reality is it's not about me. I'm a patriot. I was raised to salute the flag, that pledge of allegiance I made actually means something and that the united States of America is the greatest country on the planet. To sit back and let it fall goes against everything I believe in. My sweet little granddaughter at 10 years old is truly the most innocent loving person I have known in my lifetime. She is so inherently good she doesn't see evil in anyone or anything. She can and will find good in every situation. I cannot/will not let them destroy her and the other innocents like her. I will do whatever is necessary to take my country back! Stand up! Make the commitment! If our fore father's had given up we wouldn't have a country. NEVER back down. You are a patriot!

I'm 24. Almost everyone I know around my age either hates Trump or supports BLM/Socialism. I entirely fear for our future when these people start voting overwhelmingly and running for office. I don't want to give up, but it's difficult when everyone around you and the entire media and social media infrastructure of the country is supporting their ideology.

Man, I feel that. I’m also mid-twenties. People love to shit on boomers, but our country is fucked when that generation dies off.

Same. Just turned 32. Went to an engineering school and pretty much all my friends who are engineers....I thought they could think independently..... but almost every single one of them is obsessed with this critical race theory cancer.

I’m an engineer too. Most are vapid lefties.

This is sad. Chemist, here. Engineers used to be smart.

Same situation here. I even had a few conservative leaning engineer friends in college who switched sides after graduation. Some no longer speak to me because orange man bad. We were one of the majors where our professors didn't have time to talk about politics. We weren't being indoctrinated directly in class (although this was a lefty school).

I'm not sure that engineering specifically trains people to think critically per se, but it definitely encourages people to think creatively. When your goal is to have an open mind and solve the problem most efficiently, you don't automatically go with the status quo. In today's society, the status quo is rampant leftism. These leftist beliefs are not based in logic or reason at all. It makes no sense to me that engineers of all people would adopt this viewpoint.

I worry about the future of this country for many reasons, but what is going on in our professions? Woke concepts will destroy them all. We'll have a generation of engineers who are incapable of understanding advanced concepts let alone doing math (2+2=5). What will our nation be capable of producing then?

I would agree. We grew up with meritocracy. Good people were rewarded for excellence. Now that meritocracy = racism, it is a race to the lowest common denominator. Worse yet, great people that might have been engineers, scientists or medical doctors are displaced by those chosen via other criteria (skin color, sexual orientation, challenged in some manner)

The great advancements of the last century would not have been possible without meritocracy. If we went back to that, the smartest young people would pick up where the boomers left off.

On the plus side the people that keep the intersectional coalition together are also close to dying off. People like Pelosi.

Don't expect conservatives over 40 to care about you or offer us any help either. We're basically on our own.

2
Yianni1955 2 points ago +2 / -0

I have to disagree on that point. You are not on your own. A lot of us boomers may not be tip- top physical specimens anymore, but can still provide support in many ways. An example: I can't hump a 40 lb backpack for a 6 mile run, BUT, I have medical training and teach a field trauma care course on my own time and free, to local patriot groups. I also have various properties that could be used for safe houses if necessary. Us old folk can contribute food, equipment, ammo, intel, etc to the " tip of the spear" warfighters. Even marines have a support tail. Don't write older people off just because they can't do hand-to-hand combat.

I wasn't even talking about some fantasy combat scenario. Boomers have refused to pass on institutions to new generations and hang on to positions until they die, at which point the business or organization itself is on its deathbed. How many conservative boomers have helped "lazy" millennials or younger people get jobs? Very few, most spend their time telling us to "work harder" when we work minimum wage jobs, or cannot get higher paying jobs because boomer run corporations flood the country with H1B workers and other cheap labor.

Wouldn't worry too much. When I was 24 I was into environmental stuff and definitely not a conservative. Nothing wrong with being into environmental stuff and I was a free thinker back then so

People tend to be left leaning when they are younger. However you are right that the media and social media big tech are brainwashing the young generation big time. So if you aren't a free thinker by nature it could get difficult for a lot of people to form their own opinions

Guess we will see how it goes

But like you say, don't give up. It's not really about giving up, it's about being true to yourself. Your opinions may change as you go through life, that's cool, as long as you are being true to yourself

Good luck

I just wanted to add that the left promises instant solutions to all the world's problems. I'm hearing it from my kid. "Oh, all you have to do is ...."

He and I agree on a number of things, such as the need to reform the way (and how much) we pay for college, some environmental concerns, etc., so he demanded to know why I didn't vote for Bernie. "Darlin', Bernie is a genial old commie who is not capable of running the country, and whose policies will never deliver on his promises." At this point, there is no way on earth I can SHOW him what's wrong with Marxist policies, because he just does not comprehend what I tell him -- his context is still to thin.

He has no idea why I watched every one of DJT's Wuhan Coronavirus press conferences, and no real appreciation for the role of the Federal government in both protecting us from overseas travelers, as well as making equipment and medicines available where they are needed.

He has no idea that this is the first US President in my lifetime who actually used the tools of the office to lift burdens off of our economy, to very good effect.

But, he's learning from GameStop.

He thinks for himself, and I'm not discouraged by the process.

Do you live in a city or blue county? Because if you do then that is why

muy_libre 10 points ago +10 / -0

I don’t live in a blue area, and 90% of people my age (also mid-twenties) are left-leaning.

Bullet_Tooth_Tony 10 points ago +11 / -1

Well yeah they are mid 20s. Sadly most people that age do not know responsibility these days. Wait till they inch closer to 30 and really start on their career path. I was a fucking liberal arts college weirdo up till I was about 23 and hit the real world. I went to write a final paper on why we need more gun control and well... look at my name now.

that's why you have to show them the truth.

In West Central Texas we are Trump country! Folks need to think about moving to places that reflect their beliefs.

Sparks1017 9 points ago +9 / -0

And LEAVING the Marxist beliefs behind!! Don't bring that shit to our red states

3
Yianni1955 3 points ago +3 / -0

For sure! Do they not see the irony of escaping the effects of Leftists policies, yet continuing to vote Democrat??

You have patriots here. Come often listen to the words they say. Be inspired. There are many young people here. It is difficult to stand up for what you believe in. Stand firm in your beliefs. Failure is not an option!! Look and listen to the foreign pedes. They don't give up and they are in a worse situation.

I know a few people in their early to mid 20’s that are either conservative or at the very least, anti-woke culture. I live in a very blue state so its encouraging to see some conservative young people.
