Edit: Regarding the National Guards that were in DC. This should make every single soldier embarrassed that they had the power to undo all of this. I had no remorse for them sleeping in car ports, or on the floor. If they supported Trump, they'd have taken over.
I get the feeling, but you have to realize how the military works in America.
Out of the millions of active duty and part-time troops, the majority were going to be conservative because, on average, Republicans are more likely to join the military. However, maybe a few thousand of them would have been hardcore Trump supporters that visit websites like this. The rest were probably pissed Biden was declared the winner but didn’t consume a lot of information talking about the voter fraud.
For the sake of argument and throwing out a number, we will say that 30,000 troops were so outraged that they felt that it was worth using force to stop Biden from taking office. Out of that 30,000, you may at best get a few dozen officers (the ones with all the power in the military), a few hundred NCOs, and the rest are E-4 and below.
Oh, and that 30,000 isn’t all in the same place; they’re spread out among several different units across the military, with maybe a dozen per battalion-sized unit at most. Maybe at best, a few dozen of that 30,000 I mentioned above was part of the force in DC that guarded the inauguration, and almost all of them were probably privates and specialists that had no power to rally together a meaningful resistance. The media also made it a big deal to mention that they sent a few of them home, and it’s safe to assume they had pro-Trump, anti-Biden stuff on their social media.
The numbers simply wouldn’t have added up for a military coup to be successful, and calling the military cowards because they didn’t pull off the coup you wanted to happen to keep Trump in office doesn’t make a lot of sense. Instead, you would have seen maybe a few hundred troops across the world being made examples of for openly advocating overthrowing the government and those people’s pro-Trump social media profiles being blasted everywhere to speed up the purge of conservatives.
The military has been tainted over the last 20 years. Especially the navy and national guard, both way past their ability to absorb any more 3rd world shitbags.
