I wonder how long it's been since a security systems commercial had a burglar who wasn't white

A good one was some upper class looking white guy stealing the identity of a working class black momma.

Remember, ads are there to target products, so they want to put their target demographic as the primary character. Generally speaking, white men are better off financially, and more discerning, so only quality products will still show them as the primary character, so they've basically showed their hand on the quality of their product. Women tend to not be savvy consumers, so if they are they primary characters in a commercial you can bet that the product isn't that good.

Not exactly. Yes, the forced diversity is ideological, but the not the mixing, though that is the only logical outcome. Most advertisements target women, specifically white women, because that demographic actually spends more money than they earn (i.e. they're also spending their husband's and boyfriend's money in addition to theirs). That means a white woman has to be the main actor. But, we now also have to have at least one minority because of "diversity", and usually the only other actor in a commercial plays the husband, and that's how you get black husband plus white wife. This isn't going to change because the market itself is pushing it (because commercials with minorities are neutral or positive at best); it's not being forced by some central authority. What we really need to do is solve the fundamental issue of having minorities in this country in the first place, not target some superficial representation on TV.

That’s what they did in the past, they don’t do that anymore.

No it is, it's just that women and black people have become the number one buyers of consumer goods. White men are generally too responsible to be sold things they don't need anymore.
