on top of the other reply to you, The Latter Day Saints (as they wish to be called since the negative rumors and falsehoods came about) had the highest percentage of memberships, and a large percentage of the organization was from the church. The BSA opened up to allow openly gay boys/adults to join, as this was against the Church's beliefs and values, they pulled all membership and separated from BSA very quickly. Most of BSA's funding was from the church so all that dried up too.

Their leaders want them to crash and burn so they can sell all the prime real-estate given to the Boy Scouts over the centuries. They cannot sell it while the Boy Scouts are an entity due to conditions given when most of the property was given to the scouts.
So they let the gays in to cause the Mormons to leave. Then they let the girls in to cause the rest of the churches to leave, so they could then declare their first bankruptcy.
The end goal is to sell the land and get it developed.
