They're impeaching him because they all know he's still the real president.
It's unconstitutional, so not an Impeachment.

This is a show trial. I am not interested in the outcome. There is no potential for a victory.
The point of it is to make sure Trump can never run for office again. They have to destroy him to destroy MAGA, and get us all to go crawling back to the GOP and be obedient and compliant sheep.
They don't have the votes to convict. But I bet they try to impose penalties in separate votes. So they'll make people vote on individual charges, then they'll make people vote on whether or not to bar him from running for office again. I don't think they have the votes for that either, but guaranteed they're bribing and blackmailing people to vote yes on that one specific item.
Personally, I don't think Trump will run again. He'll help in the background, but he'd be 78 by the time he can run again and all he'd be doing in another 4 year term is being obstructed from undoing Biden's last 4 years. That'd be better than nothing, but he really needed those uninterrupted 8 years to cement his agenda. After all, he was trying to undo decades of Democrat policy damage.
Here's my big question. If things really are as lost as a lot of the people here say they are, and the election system is irreversibly broken, why do the Democrats care about Trump running again? Why go through this level of effort to do something this pointlessly crazy just to prevent him from running again if they know they can simply rig it next time?

Then one ‘lucky’ backstabber, who will push all the same crap by a different name, will be chosen to have a gracious 2024 presidential loss and then 2028 win. Nikki Haley is chomping at the bit.
Because they're petty and blood thirsty. It's the equivalent of kicking someone after you knock them down. It's just out of pure spite. Then they use that to prop themselves up, implying virtue gave them every right. It's to kick their opposition while sitting atop their high horse. Keep in mind, more Trump supporters have been killed across the country than 9/11. That's not even hyperbole. They've got more Americans to kill Americans than the number of Americans Osama killed. I mean hell they're even doing it every day when they put people on ventilators unnecessarily, or deny them HCQ or any other treatment options. If you count that, they've practically committed a 9/11 every single day on average for the last year straight.
Just like the people living under Mao didn't realize what was going on, or the jews under Hitler saw the signs but didn't know what was about to happen to them, this is exactly where we are now today.

They have to convict with 2/3rds. Only then they can impose additional penalties like barring him from holding public office, but that is simple majority.
No conviction = no additional penalties at the federal level.
If by some weird clownworld move they get a conviction, Trump could still appeal the process as unconstitutional.
Further, as of now, they have nothing on any of the kids. They could all pick states and run for federal office.
They will try to impose penalties without a conviction. Their angle will be that he's already impeached, the senates only role is to decide to vote on acquittal of charges and any kind of punishments like barring him from running. Last impeachment trial, they voted on all the charges separately. Of course it'd be ridiculous to impose a punishment on an acquittal, but you better believe democrats will try.
They'll try to use the act of the house impeaching, as a means to say that penalties can be imposed even if he is acquitted of any wrong doing. They will go from guilty until proven innocent, to guilty regardless of innocence. That's only the natural logical path of their insanity. Their argument will be "he's been impeached by the house, penalties can be imposed just because he's been impeached by the house", as if that being impeached itself is a conviction.
You may be right but I think it is more of the communist requirement to completely destroy any enemy, to humiliate, bankrupt, socially isolate and generally make it impossible for pp to name his as an icon or hero.
