I hate to say I told you so, but I have said this repeatedly here. The fear is too great for people to give up wearing masks and social distancing. The gvt and the media have done too good a job spreading the fear and panic. This will end up like the financial crises in which it took real estate a long time to recover. Events will be down in attendance, no more fun summer festivals or celebrations, and people who depend upon thise events for revenue will be SOL. The only thing that will save us is the CDC passing out medical toolkits with HCQ, ivermectin, or whatever like they do in India and Brazil so people will have medicine handy for if they get sick. Make it as handy as a bottle of aspirin. Their fear is real because they have been lied to and told there is no cure. That is the problem.

The strange thing is the same people living, er, existing, in terror since last March always talk about how they can't wait for concerts, fairs, etc. Many WILL NOT attend these events at they will be too scared of being around other people. They will likely pressure the organizers or officials to mandate masks, 50% capacity etc., which will drive away most as that will kill the fun aspect of any event.

Edit: I was involved in a Christmas event this year, to comply with state rules it made the event so miserable people came in quickly did some of the activities and left, very little talking, lots of people walking around in silence or whispering like a art museum. Couldn't even sell out all the reduced cap slots because most people wanted nothing to do with the bastardized event amd strict rules.

When discussion with the event manager and higher ups about 2021 recently they were planning on attendance and therefore budgets at 2019 levels. I said you will see 1 of 2 things:

1- The Dem run state will enforce mask, cap or other rules that will keep you at between 50%-75% occupancy to make people "feel" comfortable/safe. Masks or similar rules will keep sane people away.

2- No state restrictions, however, Karen will be too scared and hound you over mandating masks, etc. and if you do, sane people won't attend OR you don't Karen won't attend. Again you will probably only get 50-75% of your 19 attendance.

I think you are right and they are wrong. Foolish people think we will go back to 2019 levels. They do not take human emotion into account

Are people really scared about the disease or is it the constant overbearing retaliation from strangers and the government?

My neighbors are all scared. They wear a mask when walking the dog. Another time I needed to borrow her hubby for an outside task and she made me stay 20’ away and he wore a mask. Other neighbors came another time and we sat outside. They placed the chairs six ft apart and wore their masks. I said we werent sick. Didnt matter. They were Dems from Olympia. All on private property, no Karens around. Their fear is that deep because of the hype. I said I knew the cure for covid. Didnt matter. I said Florida is doing great without a mask mandate, better than CA. They dont believe it. I could stick graphs in their face and rub their noses in it, wouldnt matter. These people are not rational about covid.
