Lmao. It’s actually soon to be a ski resort. These cabins are up by the old gold mines. Decent cell reception right now. Great sledding if you have a car to drive you up the road and pick you up at the bottom. Haha. Man I could really use a beach tho right about now...

well it's magical. thanks for the insight.

I'm having flashbacks to that smell of wet boots in the mudroom and the dread of having to pull on cold ones in the morning.. shivers.

You’re welcome! And yeah, we call mud rooms “Arctic entryways” here lol. It’s been cold and clear here, and with the big solar flairs we’ve been having, the northern lights activity is turning every Joe Shmoe into a damn pro photographer lol. It is very magical.

Drink Kaladi Brothets coffee. Hubby and daughter still order the red goat from PA.

I've got a buddy works Alaskcom right there, he says it's pretty bangin throughput for Alaska. He also says going to and from work each day is a blessing because of the views.

Funny thing... I had a customer the other week who was in a fishing hut in the middle of a frozen lake. The guy was pulling 200Mbps off a mere one bar of LTE. (Though, as you would guess, his upload was nothing special.)

I asked him if the area was usually really crowded, and he said it was packed during the summer.

A place that's typically really crowded might get crazy fast internet if nobody else is around.

Oh and FYI... Sarah Palin literally could see this from her back (or front) yard....

Big Sam left Seattle in the year of ninety-two

With George Pratt his partner and brother Billy too

They crossed the Yukon river and they found the bonanza gold

Below that old white mountain

Just a little south-east of Nome

Sam crossed the Majestic mountains to the valleys far below

He talked to his team of huskies

As he mushed on through the snow

With the northern lights a-runnin' wild

In the land of the midnight sun

Yes Sam McCord was a mighty man

In the year of nineteen-one

Where the river is windin' big nuggets they're findin'

North to Alaska go north the rush is on

North to Alaska go north the rush is on

Very interesting! What are the cabins for?

2
Alaskan [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Well last I knew for sure, they were set up as museum cabins, housing artifacts from the nearby mines. They also were not this bright red. However I must admit that I do not know for sure now what they’re used for now, if anything.

I see!

I'm going to have to visit Alaska some day. Are the northern lights year round or is there a good time to go?

They're a lot more noticeable in the winter. You're basically seeing bursts of plasma from the sun getting channeled down by the planet's magnetic field lines, and then plowing straight through the atmosphere at 8 million kilometers per hour.
