Make them take a year off before college where they can work and learn how to earn a living. I went to college straight from high school and had no idea what I wanted. So I partied A LOT. You shouldn't spend 4 or more years in college trying to find out what you want to do. That's where kids get screwed up. They don't understand the real world and get lost in the world of make believe where corrupt professors sell you their bullshit and put a chip on your shoulder.
My son attended college right after high school and has earned A’s, plans to graduate early, and has earned scholarships to attend school for free at his next level of desired education...not everyone gets screwed up going straight to college from high school. But he has spent years playing hockey and has a strong work ethic. Getting up at 4 a.m. to practice hockey in a blizzard will do that to a young man.
