I dont think his voter approval with Republicans was as high, at the start of his term, either. By his second campaign there was more than a 90% chance a rank and file republican, he may have hired, would be a genuine supporter.

We all figured out he was on our side...

I'm not talking about Republican voters, I'm talking about the GOP - the establishment Republican politicians and insiders.

I knew what you were talking about. His odds of good hires outside the party structures was also lower at the start of his term. By the end of it any everyday republican hire would probably be a safe hire.
