They delayed the release of the tv ratings because they were looking for viewership - I am not kidding, they actually did that. The number that they released include everything which I speculate if you accidentally changed the channel to CBS on Sunday that counted toward their viewership count. It feels good to know that I participated in the the super bowl, I mean tiny bowl, rating drop. Sometimes doing the right thing takes time for fruition.

Considering how many people are cooped up at home, with not much else to do, and have already watched just about all the movies and shows they wanted to - this Superbowl should have had the biggest audience ever.

It didn't because people are fed up with the NFL.

Polar deep freeze in Midwest. Thought every tv would be on for Shuper Bowl. Not with those numbers.

BunnyPicnic 11 points ago +11 / -0

It's borderline retarded cold here in Kansas. We get these artic plunges every 5-7 years, where it's just brutal for 10 days. The high here on Sunday is 0°. The wind chill will be -15°. I don't know how many of you have felt those kinds of wind chills, but it's not fun. My freezer is warmer than the outside air temperature.

Yeah, iowa is similar to Kansas, in that winters can be bitter cold, and summers can be miserable with the heat and humidity. While the humidity may not be Houston or florida levels, there's a really good chance you could get 20° one week, then 85° the next. Just last Friday, it was nearly 55° here, and this weekend the air temp will be well below zero. . You know it's cold when your mucus freezes to your nose hairs and you are literally snorting ice crystals. I've had my eye lashes freeze as well, not fun. But it beats those July mornings when it's about 85% humidity and 85° by noon.

phibetared 6 points ago +6 / -0

I grew up in Minnesota. The cutoff point as to whether your youth hockey game was allowed to commence outdoors - was -10 (temp) or -25 (windchill). So I'd sit on Saturday in front of the TV at 7am, eating a bowl of Cap'n Crunch and watching the weather update every half hour, hoping it would warm up from -12 to -10 so we could play. It usually did.

TrumpWonBigly2020 3 points ago +3 / -0

And you get the pleasure of constant 40 mph wind gusts. Kansas wind is my least favorite weather I've ever experienced. It's neverending and merciless.

2
BunnyPicnic 2 points ago +2 / -0

Fortunately, it doesn't get nearly as windy in eastern Kansas as it does in western Kansas, but I'm also in the middle of liberal FAGGOT country.

But yes, the Kansas wind never really stops blowing. There's nothing to stop it. The wind, to me at least, is what makes the cold temps unbearable. Feels like 1000s of needles are piercing your face, any exposed skin will be hurting within 5 minutes.

1
TrumpWonBigly2020 1 point ago +1 / -0

And in the summer you get thousands of pebbles and sand in your eyes and your bare skin feels like it's being ripped open by thousands of needle pricks.

Definitely the most miserable weather condition I've ever suffered!

1
BunnyPicnic 1 point ago +1 / -0

That wind is a safe haven and a curse. Western Kansas doesn't get the humidity the eastern half gets, but the temps reach 105 multiple times throughout the summer. A gentle breeze is nice to have. Getting sandblasted is not nice. I imagine you have been windburnt? Like sun burnt but from the wind. Horrible.

1
el-y0y0s 1 point ago +1 / -0

Lowest I've been in is 9 degrees. Even that felt like it seared my skin through my denim jeans.

2
HorribleDeplorable 2 points ago +2 / -0

Gotta bundle up for that sort of thing.

I was out in -25 wind chill last night in Columbia thermal unders, cotton sweatpants and t-shirt, and then carhartt bibs and duck jacket. Wool socks, Sorel thermal boots, head sock, North Face hat, North Face leather & wool gloves, and some goggles to finish it off.

Other than a little bulk it was like walking around inside my house. Not even a chill.

4
nozonozo 4 points ago +4 / -0

I admit I watched some but it made me uncomfortable because of the lack of diversity on the field of play. When is the NFL going to mandate that the racial makeup of the players needs to mirror society?

The NFL isn't very woke.

7
Licensetomeme 7 points ago +7 / -0

Don’t worry. They’re still waiting on the midnight rating tally drop.

4
tombombadil 4 points ago +4 / -0

On the contrary, there are tens of millions of people that watch the super bowl just so that they don't feel left out when all of their colleagues are talking about it at work the next day. Those people didn’t have to worry about feeling left out this year.

4
TrumpWonBigly2020 4 points ago +4 / -0

This year the majority didn't watch so you fit in better having not watched than if you did.

2
tombombadil 2 points ago +2 / -0

The most watched super bowl was 1.14 million which is still not a majority of the country. But if you work a white collar job, the vast majority of your coworkers would have watched the super bowl.

I'd rather watch paint dry. Actually.... I think I was staining my TV stand that day. Much more fun that watching the Superbowl.

They won’t. There’s a reason why people from all over build rafts to get to America, not from it..... Granted, that’s before 2021 so maybe they will leave this time around and advocate for the same sht they ran from. At the least, it might serve as a wake up call to how fcking privileged they actually are, white, black, asian, or otherwise.

6

Huge faggots. If you watched it you are part of the problem

11
TrumpWonBigly2020 11 points ago +11 / -0

Realistically they had probably 85 to 90 million max. Millions of people turned it off after the travesty of the black national anthem bullshit and millions more only watched a couple minutes to a quarter max.

7
PepePedebone 7 points ago +7 / -0

30 million viewers found in a convention center 8 hrs after the game ended. Hope I wasn't one, cuz I don't even know the score. This pede didn't watch.

5

3

Of those, 30 million of us just wanted to see how bad the virtue signaling is getting. It's getting really bad.

2
ProudlyConservative 2 points ago +2 / -0

How many viewers do they usually have?

4
TheCandorist 4 points ago +4 / -0

Until the BLM and SJW shit started the previous 8 years were around 111 million. I had to go back to 2005 or 2006 to find numbers comparable to what wikipedia says this one had which is probably an inflated number. That's based on "average viewers".

If it's "total viewers" that was less than 100 mil then you would have to back to at least 1981 to get there. Since then the total views were anywhere from 135 million up to a high of 172.

Guess we will have to see the official reports.

1
ProudlyConservative 1 point ago +1 / -0

I watched the halftime show only and was sorry I did.

2
ModernKnight 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm wondering if this was "dominionized" at all. I didn't watch it. Unfortunately my parents watched part of it, but I don't think any of my siblings watched it (either my based brother or my commie sisters).

3
Captntrouble 3 points ago +3 / -0

this bar showed it, that bar reported an average daily customer count of 300, thats 300 people that watched the superbowl at that restaurant. actually, 300 is average so we'll bump it up to 400 because that many COULD have gone and just ordered water

2
seeyouinvalhalla 2 points ago +2 / -0

They probably did that in California too even though the restaurants are closed

1
ModernKnight 1 point ago +1 / -0

Hahaha! Almost certainly! "There are also X bars in NYC, they typically hold Y people each, so that's a lot more people watching."

"Uh, sir, 90% of those bars have gone out of business..."

"Hush, bigot, or you'll be looking for a new job."

2

I didn't even turn my TV on. Thats bc as a 40 year old man in a digital world... I canceled opera tv.... I mean my cable provider. If your all smart enough you would do the same. No more BET or BET women or TLC or any of the dribble.

2
MythArcana 2 points ago +2 / -0

So, it was about 18 million then.

2
Staatssicherheit 2 points ago +3 / -1

They track the numbers through a sample like Neilson, right? Our TVs shouldn't be sending a signal to them saying what channel we are watching.

Seems like the biggest bang for our buck would be to get Neilsen families to stop watching this garbage.

6
Siretch [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

If you have a smart tv or streaming service, they can track everything you watch regardless if you are a nielson family member.

1
TrumpWonBigly2020 1 point ago +1 / -0

Get a router VPN and all your device locations will be spoofed. Can do it for as cheap as about $70-$80 for a modern wifi router with built in VPN. It's the only way to vpn tunnel devices like smart TVs and game consoles that don't allow custom software.

1
LessAndLessIronic 1 point ago +1 / -0

Has anyone reverse engineered the "phone home" data?

It seems like the best way to stop this would be to get enough people spoofing data to make it worthless.

We could build in a feature that lets users vote on which show the system will make #1 that week just for the lulz. Can you see the headlines? "C-SPAN ratings top NFL playoffs for the first time in US history".

1
TrumpWonBigly2020 1 point ago +1 / -0

Don't they base the ratings entirely on neilson polling info? In which case you'd have to be an approved poller with neilson.

Id guess the viewership numbers are from individual platform IDs that tune in. If so that doesn't seem like it'd be impossible to spoof. That would be hilarious!

1
LessAndLessIronic 1 point ago +1 / -0

With the smart TV's starting to phone home, and the sale of that data being a key part of the consumer electronics business model, I can't imagine that Neilsons has a monopoly on ratings data anymore.

1
TrumpWonBigly2020 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's why I'm going to set up VPN through my router so even my smart TVs have spoofed IP locations.

1
Right_of_Sinner 1 point ago +1 / -0

they only delayed it so they could count all the late viewers who watched a recording of it at 3:30am.

1
Gmelindag 1 point ago +1 / -0

It’s almost disgraceful that they’re making fun of the NFL like this, we all know that the NFL died last year and this is pretty mean!

RIP Piece of trash NFL!

1
mlitton4 1 point ago +2 / -1

What about streaming numbers. I streamed the game on espn deportes.

2
20KAG20 2 points ago +2 / -0

It’s included. There were 90M tv viewers and 6M streamers.

1
Pumpitrealgood 1 point ago +1 / -0

willing to bet it was much lower, they will massage any numbers to make it appear people are going back to normalcy, and all is well when things are worse now than they ever were.

And aren’t the Patriots the most popular team in the NFL these days? Hilarious. I’m surprised it only bombed back to 2007 levels though. I was expected to go back to the 80s.

0
Klootviool 0 points ago +1 / -1

I watched it but I watched it through an illegal live stream. They don't make money off of me and it doesn't add to the viewer count

11
TwistedSister 11 points ago +11 / -0

It set them back to '77, and it's about 50 million fewer viewers than last year. Yeah, that's significant....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_television_ratings

5
TrumpWonBigly2020 5 points ago +5 / -0

Funny that wikipedia shows 150 million for 2020 on that graph. Fucking commie liars.

4
TwistedSister 4 points ago +4 / -0

It was 150 million, but Kaepernick came out in '17, and that's when the NFL's numbers started dropping. From '17 to '20, it dropped 20 million, from 170 mil to 150 mil, and this last show dropped 50 million more.

-6
Anaconda -6 points ago +9 / -15

HAHAHA! Get fucked, Tom Brady. Nobody watched your shittyass game. What is even worse than the NFL are the faggots here who masturbate to Brady and LARP as if he is either MAGA or an alt-right icon. In 2016 he said he doesn't know Trump, Judas-style. In 2017 after Charlottesville he said he doesn't like what Trump says and does. Then he kneeled like the BLM beta bitch he is for the past 3.5 years on the orders of his commie wife Gisele.

I actually watched the game for the first time in years. I lived in Louisiana for about a decade and wanted to watch the players I love so much, plus I wanted to see if Gronk still had it. I did not watch half-time or the pregame or any of the commercials. Decent game, the toe injury limited Mahomes but the defense would have prevailed even if he’d been healthy. Interesting match up and I enjoyed that all the prognosticators were wrong, KC did not blow them out.

Btw, to all your gatekeepers, Donald Trump threw a Super Bowl watching party at the Mara Lago. So I guess he is kicked out of your club now too?

3
DeplorableLA 3 points ago +6 / -3

I have not watched pro football in years and am happy to take some heat defending my decision to do so this year. Good point about the gatekeepers, and like Pelosi, they don’t get to tell me who I love.
