Summary: the researchers used covid case counts in each country to draw conclusions as to what languages spread it most easily. Countries where the dominate language uses “aspirated consonants” also had most covid cases per capita.

So a few things:

1. the paper was first published in June 2020, so not a ton of time to collect accurate data.
2. why trust each country to be honest with their covid reporting, let alone the problem with diff labs/countries use diff cycle threshold for PCR tests.
3. The news article headline is a bit sensational, singling out english. The research highlights languages with “aspirated consonants” not just english.

To be fair to DDG, are there any directories/websites with the balls to put up a page with "White-owned businesses." Probably not. It's hard to index something that probably doesn't exist. I tried the search with -black, -women and -LBGT and you basically just get a generic business listing.

On the bright side the black, women, and LGBT-owned directories are helpful to point out which to avoid. In the case of women-owned particularly because it's very likely they won't be in business too long.
