Second, look into Frederick Douglass. He's honestly, in my opinion, one of the greatest Americans to have ever lived. He was born into slavery, after learning the basics of reading he taught himself to become one of the greatest orators for freedom, he loved America despite his circumstances, and became the most highly revered for his time.
