Yes, I know there is more to an internet backbone than satellites, but a up/down satellite network would be ideal fro a new "Satellite Free America."

The big question would be if Musk has the cajones to actually do it.

All tech is compromised. You think the NSA, NRO, CIA, FBI and the rest of the letter agencies won't hack the shit out of his satellites?

There are limitations to what can be done to a well-designed system with no physical access. Once in orbit, physical access to the satellites suddenly becomes close to impossible.

Tech has been compromised since the beginnings of language. I suspect that sometime around 2000 BC, some guy was the first person to have falsified a document or signature to steal something.

The functional difference between modern electronic identity related fraud and that first case of fraud on papyrus or clay tablets is much smaller than you might imagine.

That's pretty much nothing, unless those satellites also happen to be data centers, which would be pretty retarded, being in space and all.

If you own the data center, and have a way to effectively bypass the terrestrial communications networks, it is a whole lot easier to say "Fuck You" to big tech when they try to force you to censor content.

I recently had a dream Elon bought Twitter and then used satellites to broadcast memes in the sky mocking normies.....weird shit haha
