I've been trying to determine who shoulders most of the blame for the disastrous situation our country is in, and it's hard not to put it first and foremost on parents or boomers. The younger generation is of course completely indoctrinated by the media, but where were the parents to warn and stop the brainwashing from happening? Our country fell to communism during the baby boomers' watch. It's totally unforgivable. It took there not being free handout money for your daughter to open her eyes? Seriously?
I take exception to the blanket accusation against boomers. I am a boomer. I reared (and home schooled) 4 children. They all managed to get to adulthood with their minds clear and wise. I could not be prouder.
Thank you for raising your children this way. I'm obviously generalizing. Am I wrong to say that majority of boomer parents failed their children and thereby their country though? Who raised all the young socialists we're up against? More specifically how did we let our daughters more than anyone fall for this trap?
You are right, most of my peers failed the ir kids epically. I feel blessed to have had the parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles that I did. Patriots all of them. Some of my grandparents got out of Germany before Hitler entrenched, they knew what was what.
Oh, I take full responsibility where I need to as far as my daughter goes. She had an absent father, I was a full time working mom and she spent her afternoons at home alone on the internet until I got home from work.
She also has a diagnosed personality disorder that makes her susceptible to brainwashing. The saying that these leftists that worship Bernie and AOC are mentally unstable is not really a meme, IMO. I would wager the vast majority of them have some sort of mental illness going on, similar to my daughter.
Believe me when I say I've tried to teach her and guide her along the right path. But I was fighting an uphill battle against public schooling (which back then I hadn't realized had gone so bad) and the internet. I wish I had never let her have access to the internet tbh.
that being said, my youngest daughter was homeschooled, always home with a parent and had extremely limited internet access. She has been a based Gen Z up until the last year since she got married and moved to Japan. She is on FB a lot, she's getting the mandatory diversity training that tells her how awful she is bc of her race, and she's now exploring wicca.
So, you tell me what has the bigger influence-parenting or media and peer pressure?
I want to but I don't want her to shut down talking to me all together. I want to at least know what's going on.
I'm hoping this is a phase she never went through in her teens because she was raised in a pretty staunch Christian environment. She is seeing these people post about it online and is reading about it. Whether she will actually get into it remains to be seen but I don't think she will. She even told me she's not sure what she believes at the moment.
She's married and lives thousands of miles away right now. nothing I could do to get her away from it if I wanted to at this point. just pray for a hedge of protection around her as she explores these ideas and pray she comes back to her Christian roots.
Look I don't want to be too harsh. It sounds like you're trying. I'm not a parent so it's easy for me to judge. It's crystal clear that parents have not been proactive enough bracing their children for the bombardment of brainwashing they will inevitably face in media, school, and by peers. We need to educate our kids early and often and prepare them for what's coming their way. Perhaps hindsight is 20/20. It's tough though because I don't know how we get out of this nightmarish situation we're in currently.
I grew up in poverty. I worked my way into a successful career in which my children never even knew poor, much less poverty. I didn't give them everything they wanted but they never went without and had it better than a lot of people.
I look back and wonder if I should have raised them as if we were poor. If maybe they would have a better appreciation for working hard for something. I don't know. I just know that I did the best I could. There are things I wish I had done differently and I'll wager just about every parent feels that way. We don't have an instruction manual.
I agree with you. It is tough to see how we are going to get out of this situation. I will say that I've fought to the best of my ability and will continue to do so. But I can't force my adult kids to think like me. they now will make their own choices as we all do when we become adults. And they will live with the consequences of those choices.
Also, I want you to know that the grown children of people my age and boomers voted for Trump in droves this past election and it didn't do any good because of the rigging. My oldest didn't but many others did.
I think our elections have been rigged for a while now and it's not entirely a generation of people's fault.
Long story short, we have been in good pampered times since the end of WW2. We have evolved into a bunch of weakling bitches. Some hard times are in order to set us straight again....hopefully not too hard though.

yes, but I'm not a boomer. My mother is and I grew up to be a staunch conservative and successful in life.
You are right, most of my peers failed the ir kids epically. I feel blessed to have had the parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles that I did. Patriots all of them. Some of my grandparents got out of Germany before Hitler entrenched, they knew what was what.
You did good, but then again there are my lefty parents, who raised 4 children.
I'm the only one who isn't a complete dumbfuck.
I am sorry. Blessing that you made it through on a good path.
👍

Seriously get her away from wicca. That shit is evil.

Yikes.

Hindsight is definitely 20/20.

it's going to get hard. harder than you want.
Yeah. I know.
