The State is an inherently illegitimate institution of organized aggression, of organized and regularized crime against the persons and properties of its subjects… a profoundly antisocial institution which lives parasitically off of the productive activities of private citizens.
The state serves a good purpose when the people remain vigilant and keep it in check.
Murray Rothbard basically took Ayn Rand, created his own strawman of her, and then made it his sincerely held belief system, lol. Imo she's the best libertarian philosopher.
If you could keep the government restrained to preventing aggression against peaceful people sure it would be great.
But history has shown that every attempt to do so has failed.
Ayn Rand makes some good points, but she's not a great writer, and lacks tact. But anyone that awakens people to the danger of the State and the value of liberty is someone to be praised in my book.
