Why the fk do they want their team to win?? Do they hate the other teams??? They must want the other players to suffer! Why don't they want every team to "win" equally? Rooting for your team doesn't mean that you hate the others, it just mean that you want to see yours win more than lose, and sometimes win a lot, and often.
Wanting your state to win over another state doesn't mean you hate other states, or its people.
Wanting your country to win doesn't mean that you hate other countries, or its people.
I want every country to root for their own country, and have a (fill in the blank) First policy and mindset. It focuses the nation's governance and the populace's efforts, and it is good for the competition that floats all boats higher in the pursuit of human progress.
It doesn't mean nations pointlessly beat each other up. It doesn't mean one nation seeks to place a yoke upon another. Notice that the America First president is the only president in decades to not send troops into foreign lands on some fkn bloody escapade of ambiguous end...he did nothing but pull America out of pointless, deadly foreign military adventures. Yet, those that deride the America First policies of GEOTUS the First happily cackle as they bomb foreign lands and send American sons and daughters in to harm's way to kill and be killed. Let your "America First Bad" peeps try and digest that hard bit of reality.
Without the need for strength, muscles atrophy. Without the need for agility, reflexes become sluggish. Without the need for dexterity, the body becomes cumbersome. Without the need for focused cognition, the brain becomes a slow-thinking blob of little use to the human mind, active only to the point as to orchestrate minimal organ function as is necessary to exist. A biological organism will not invest caloric effort to maintain a function that the body says the environment does not require for success (aka, staying alive).

It doesn't have to be malicious or vicious competition, but, without competition, we would all be typing on our Commodore 94 desktop...the finest that one update a year-ish (brought to us by the harmonious effort to advance the collective good of the entire population that will receive the same product and the workers the same compensation for the total effort of everybody, no matter their actual contribution to the team effort). Yeah, no thanks.
Teams get better because they are trying to score more points than their opponents. Ballerinas get better because they try and outperform their fellow ballerinas. Flutists get better because they they try and raise their level of prowess to that greater than the person occupying the chair ahead of them. Physicists advance the state of scientific knowledge because they are striving to be the first one to figure out that heretofore unlocked mystery of the universe..before every other physicist.
Communal effort devoid of competitive pressures and without reward for individual effort has only one claim to fame: 100% success...at abject failure...in every geographic location, with every varying start point of cultural disposition of people, and with every number of people involved in the experiment.
Sprinkling unicorn poop dust under your armpits has the same likelihood of allowing you to achieve anti-gravity as does embarking on a journey of collective human effort does of producing prosperity.
