I work in research and development for the energy sector in Germany. The green energy agenda is about to fail here in Germany. The problem isn't so much, that we have about zero solar and wind right now (that happens at least for two weeks every winter), but because of the lockdown, the energy demand is very volatile. That demand has to be satisfied with coal- and gas-fired power plants. Essentially, we are spending about 40 Billion $ per year on additional costs for electricity, but the technology we get fails us miserably. To get to a completely renewable grid, we would need to expand the current green energy capacity at least seven-fold... At the end of next year, our nuclear power plants will be shut down. That's gonna be a crap show.

I wrote a paper on this six years ago. They would need at least 8 times more solar and wind capacity as they had online at the time (before the closing of the last nuclear capacity) to have a chance of surviving. A heralded "expert" from California tried to argue with me that power lines running under oceans would solve any little problems they might have. And then the Tasmanian under sea power cable failed (for the first time) and China and every other world power scrambled to develop deep-diving militarized robots... and here we are.

Do you mean that, in his opinion, off-shore wind could solve the problem (thus the need for deep-sea power cables)? There aren't enough companies willing to invest in wind off-shore wind parks. And based on the data I've seen these wind parks which are supposed to run for 25 years have a significant failure rate between 12-16 years.

He was saying that the EU (pre-Brexit) could be interconnected with enough undersea power cables to cross-connect their way to green heaven. I'm sure any bad-actor would relish the thought that a snip here and there could crash an economy overnight.

Yeah, that wouldn't work. It's unbelievable how many useless ideas about Green Energy come out of California when they can't get Green Energy to run themselves.

what came first, the power outage or the militarized robots ;)

If they wanted to save and conserve energy, they would overturn migration.

A right-wing party in Germany actually made their case against migration like that.

What's going on with France? I've read that they plan to shut down half of their current nuclear reactors, but after further research, it seems like they have at least one new one opening soon.

I ask because I've read that Germany is buying power from France.

France's nuclear reactors are old, and too often, badly maintained. France is going to massively expand renewables (because they cucked) but new nuclear reactors might be a reality. Research in nuclear power is alive and well, even in Germany. Germany does buy electricity from France. It always depends on the current price. France buys electricity from Germany when it gets too warm because they don't have enough cooling to run on higher loads.
