Directly at the post office. Nobody goes there anymore so it is rarely slow service. You can send a single piece instead of buying a book of stamps to lose. Also, the added benefit of triggering a possible lefty postal worker is priceless.

I haven't had that experience. The lines were short but the service was still slow.
I still don't know whether to blame the Post Office for poor service and process, the occasional customer who makes the simple act of mailing a package into a complex situation; or both.
In my experience it's a combination of 'one person working the counter while there's 81 people in line, while some guy can clearly be seen in the back area just sitting there on his phone' and 'absolute asstards trying to mail their cat'.
One time there was a guy just throwing packages around. Reminded me of Ace Ventura.
The last time I went to my post office (the carrier screwed up delivery of a registered letter to my address) it was like that. One person at the counter, 10 people in line, all waiting on some one who looked like an eBayer sending out a small mountain of packages.
You can always use a regular stamp on a postcard. And they still make postcard stamps. A few cents cheaper.

Additionally, I would strongly suggest not putting your return address and only signing with your first name. USPS photographs and archives all mail and we're literally at the point where I don't doubt they would just use OCR to create a list of enemies to send to camps just from this.

Done tomorrow. We are overseas so will be sending ours expedited courier so as to habe receipts/tracking. Also not a bad idea for those state side, so there is a record of your mail. Alternatively, if cost is an issue send your letters/postcards USPS registered mail. Or any method that gives you a receipt and tracking #. If I receive confirmation of delivery, I will post it here.

I want to send a thank you card, and maybe a token of my appreciation and would LOVE an autograph in return, but I don't want my stuff to just get thrown away, I suspect he's getting a ton of hate mail and I bet very little if anything actually gets funneled to him.
