I’d say it’s because 3 generations put wealth and comfort over duty and service.

The Silent Generation would like a word.

The USA was lost around the same time the Russian Empire was lost, one violently, another experiment went slow and steady.

Blaming one or the other generation on it is straight-up silly.

I'm gonna turn 50 in a couple of years, was born and raised in the USSR -- Americans had absolutely no chance, especially past WW2. One way of looking at it is that it's just evolution doing its thing.

It may be a natural evolution within human nature, but that doesn't absolve anyone for their part in letting it happen.
