"The university intellectuals play an important role in carrying on the systems trick. Though they like to fancy themselves independent thinkers, the intellectuals are the most over socialised, the most conformist, the tamest most domesticated, the most pampered, dependent, and spineless group today. As a result, their impulse to rebel is particularly strong. But because they are incapable of independent thought, real rebellion is impossible for them. Consequently they are suckers for the systems trick, which allows them to irritate people and enjoy the illusion of rebelling without ever having to challenge the systems basic values"
In all societies, public opinion is determined by the intellectual classes, the opinion moulders of society. For most people neither originate nor disseminate ideas and concepts; on the contrary, they tend to adopt those ideas promulgated by the professional intellectual classes, the professional dealers in ideas. Now, throughout history, as we shall see further below, despots and ruling elites of States have had far more need of the services of intellectuals than have peaceful citizens in a free society. For States have always needed opinion-moulding intellectuals to con the public into believing that its rule is wise, good, and inevitable; into believing that the “emperor has clothes.”
It's my personal opinion that had Ted not decided to bomb shit he would have been considered the modern Henry David Thoreau a generation later. He covers alot of the same concepts at Thoreau but from a modern perspective.
Yeah. Unfortunately his work is always going to have that stigma attached to it. Social media proved Ted right on the concept of controlling people by oversocialization and oversocializing people by incentivizing specific social interactions. In essence turning people's desire to be publicly recognized by peers into a control mechanism. I would be interested in if he's written anything while imprisoned. I think it really goes to show how much he believed in what he wrote about when he acted on it instead of publishing and capitalizing on his work.
He will be seen as a genius and a prophet to future generations.
Whether or not a particular person agrees with violence. Obviously for the glowies we totally disavow and denounce all violence.
He was completely correct about just about everything. One of the most popular academics in the dissident right these days is Professor Edward Dutton who basically points out lack of natural selection due to industrialisation has basically created large numbers of mal-adaptive mutants. The brain being 80% of the genome you see it expressed in things than ANTIFA, Veganism, trans-ideology and the woke agenda. It's just a more nuanced version of Teds argument from the perspective of evolutionary psychology.
"The conservatives are fools: They whine about the decay of traditional values, yet they enthusiastically support technological progress and economic growth. Apparently it never occurs to them that you can’t make rapid, drastic changes in the technology and the economy of a society without causing rapid changes in all other aspects of the society as well, and that such rapid changes inevitably break down traditional values."

Have you read Industrial Society and its Future? You really should. He was completely right about his assessment of where the world is and the causes of its dysfunction.
But even if you ignore the whole violence thing for a second the method he went about trying to enact that change was the literal opposite of how one achieves public influence.
Even if you don't agree with his methods he was correct. A small band of extremists who are prepared to use violence will often determine the course of history. What percentage of the colonists took up arms against the crown? What percentage of Irishmen took up arms against the crown in 1920? What was the actual membership the Bolsheviks had in 1917? How many people were actually willing to take up arms and fight for Adolf Hitler between 1919 and 1933?
Look at BLM and ANTIFA. Their memberships are relatively small and yet the authorities were powerless before them.

It is crazy to find myself agreeing with Ted Kaczynski, but it is hard to argue against this quotation. He's on point here.

Very interesting perspective. I can totally see this.

KInda hard to argue with the truth regardless of its source
Based and Kaczynski pilled.
The unabomber said some ok stuff.
But even if you ignore the whole violence thing for a second the method he went about trying to enact that change was the literal opposite of how one achieves public influence.
Worked fine for BLM.
He didn’t use the BLM method at all.
He holed up in a cabin by himself and wrote letters while occasionally randomly targeting a member of industry.
Political violence is political violence. Or at least, it used to be.
Absolutely.
