Covid has undermined all my failsafes regarding dependence on technology and gadgets and you can play only so many boardgames and take so many walks until you give in to the screens. Strip away everything you and your kids do for fun and all you are left with are mind numbing screens.

I think back on my childhood and the things I most enjoyed had no electronics. Tons of simple toys (Hotwheels, Matchbox, MicroMachines, LEGO, etc) and just goofing off in the neighborhood. Video games, TV and even the computer/internet just weren't really that important, not to mention they were at a much simpler state than anything we have now. I miss the 80s/90s 😥
I did the opposite. I jumped into learning about technology and electronics. I have more capabilities with a cheap smart phone, than someone has with the newest iphone.
Really, that's interesting, anything you would suggest. Thanks BlackKat I might go that route.
you can use your phone as a gps tracker, by logging into gmail and using device manager to track your phone. You can use something called Teamviewer to connect back to your home computer if you aren't home and need stuff done. Gps spoofing for certain apps. You can take advantage of first time deals on restaurant apps to get free food, keep making new accounts. learn how to make simple apps using "mit app inventor 2" which is just a browser type software that lets you learn programming like puzzle pieces.
A phone is a leash.
While I am not sure if the tech giants have designed phones to be addictive, I do believe they were designed that way, along with televisions, tablets and whatever else has a screen. It's one way to keep a population subdued and malleable. With all the noise being forced into your head, you can't sustain deep thought processes, nor have the peace and quiet to figure out what's really being done to you. You can't organize your ideas with neighbors if you can't create the ideas.
Smash your television and/or iphone and become a frequent visitor at the book stores. I'd downgrade to a 'dumbphone' if this smartphone didn't have two gadgets I REALLY need for my job.
They have actually proved that it decreases mental acuity. They did a study on London cabbie drivers who showed decreased usage of the frontal lobe with the introduction of GPS directions. I always had a map in my car but not anymore. I find that people have difficulty with boredom and silence and it is related to gadgets. It's like when you are at a party and you don't have a cup of beer in your hand, you start to become nervous and anxious.
The more connected we became with the world, the less connected we became with those around us.
