Big Tech isn't worried about censorship because they know that the Republican party is on board with it..

there's a reason it's called Big Tech and other things are called small tech. Duck duck Go is small Tech.. parlor is small Tech you can't fight big tec with small Tech

26
VinnyMAGA 26 points ago +26 / -0

you can't fight big tec with small Tech

I disagree. If you want to be a sheep you'll always be a sheep. For everyone else, small tech gives them options and people are flocking to them in droves.

TheClassicalLiberal 18 points ago +18 / -0

In addition there was a time, not so long ago when Yahoo was the 800lb Gorilla and google was but a cute start up.

I rarely use Chrome now (I need it for some banks and other KYC sites) and instead am using Brave and a Dissenter (mostly Brave)

I don't use google SE at all; haven't for well over a year.

I'm migrating off of gmail (to protonmail). ALL new emails accts are now on Protonmail and I'm updating all the other accounts. Soon, I'm off gmail.

Multiply that by tens of millions of people and all of a sudden Protonmail is not small tech and neither is Brave or Dissenter or DDG.

12
infojunkie07 12 points ago +12 / -0

your point is valid only as long as there is a fair level playing field. Similar to free , fair elections. /s

With big tech collusion/cabals they can pick off competition. Heck there are people on the right who've put forward ideas why encryption, anonymity, VPN etc should be illegal unless the honest and angelic GOVT agencies like DOJ, FBI etc gets a special backdoor (ergo making the tech exploitable).

There are already places where such things are illegal or downright banned by law. What happens if proton, vpn , etc are also made unlawful in the interest of protecting the land of the free and home of the "brave"?

Then we're no longer even living under the illusion that we can reclaim our republic. We will have devolved into tyranny. The United States would be no longer.

The US is not the land or the buildings - it is the Constitution, and if the Constitution is being ignored in toto, then it is not the US.

6
SordidPontification 6 points ago +6 / -0

Don't use Dissenter. It's horribly out of date. It's based off a version of Brave from June/July last year and there are a couple dozen CVEs that impact the Chromium it's based off of that could lead to code execution on your machine.

Use Brave if you must, but don't use Dissenter.

4
AK94 4 points ago +4 / -0

Brave is not an "if you must". I've been using it daily for 2 years now. It's outstanding. And you earn a little sprinkle of crypto just for browsing the web. 100% recommended. Blocks tons of ads and scripts, and natively supports onion routing and IPFS. Everyone should install it - it's a perfect replacement for Chrome and Safari.

3
Pepe1776_ 3 points ago +3 / -0

Dissenter would make more sense as a browser extension but as we all know wouldn't be allowed in the repository.

6
phantasmo 6 points ago +6 / -0

ProtonMail is based in Switzerland, a country that is home to some of the strongest data privacy laws in the world. It also has no affiliations or history of cooperation with US security services and their allies. Switzerland is also home to some of the strongest data privacy laws in the world.

3
Warbeard 3 points ago +3 / -0

I took the plunge and deleted my Google account without any preparation. So far the only online account I've lost (because they send the verification email to your old email address when you update your email) is Warframe, and they supported the violent race riots so fuck them anyways.

2
VinnyMAGA 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm migrating off of gmail (to protonmail). ALL new emails accts are now on Protonmail and I'm updating all the other accounts. Soon, I'm off gmail.

Irrelevant. The media monopolies control everything and own the politicians. Small tech is ultimately doomed.

7
JustinSonOfFidel 7 points ago +7 / -0

Telegram just leap frogged twitter in users almost overnight and I love the platform. Not sure what censorship they are doing or billion dollar IPO?

Gab seems to be doing alright, Yandex has decent search results, the wins are working fine, in fact here you are using it right now.

I don't use google.

5
XISUX 5 points ago +5 / -0

You just don’t see it. I cannot help that. Most people can’t. But you will.

Signal vs Telegram: Which is the best privacy-focused WhatsApp alternative? There's more to it than jumping to the first thing you find.

https://www.androidpolice.com/2021/01/14/signal-vs-telegram-which-is-the-best-privacy-focused-whatsapp-alternative/

3
MAGAsJustBegun 3 points ago +3 / -0

Idk man, GAB is honestly kicking ass right now. So is this site.

But gab... What's great about gab is that it doesn't feel like an alternative.

It feels like a perfect mix between FB and Twitter, of which I quit both.

Gab is actually fun and addictive, and has fun groups outside of politics.

It's a great platform, and implementing Gab TV with it was a great idea.

Gab is the first time I've thought it's possible an "alt tech" app could become mainstream, big tech over time.

We need all republicans to leave Twitter and FB, and join gab.

World leaders will then follow. As world leaders follow, so does everyone else.

It's also very important for Gab TV to focus on popular music.

A YouTube competitor can't do well unless they work out some major music contracts, and get a lot of the big guys on their platforms.

Then, it can get out of the alternative stage and become a maisntream staple.

1
My2Cents 1 point ago +1 / -0

2

3
infojunkie07 3 points ago +4 / -1

Yeah back then maybe.

If it were now they'd be droned from up in the sky using thermal imaging, satellite survelliance etc. to reduce american casualities.

Yahoo was defeated by google coz those were early days and google did start out with a real viable, fast alternative, with a clean front page. Dirty politics and degenerate culture had not fully seeped into the tech field yet.

5
JustinSonOfFidel 5 points ago +5 / -0

The google started from a garage BS is BS btw. Same with Facebook.

duck duck go is great for most things. Even downloaded their browser app and use it exclusively on my phone. Their maps though, hot garbage.

4
MAGAsJustBegun 4 points ago +4 / -0

I use that, and Brave internet browser.

I suggest you try brave

If you enable ads, which aren't bad, you are compensated with crypto currency, which you can donate to content makers such as the people running this very site! It's a cool idea.

3
AJoeDD 3 points ago +3 / -0

I use duckduckgo by default, but not really sure how they work. Aren't they woke too? Posts below said they were caught censoring. I think I read on here before that they utilize other engines' results to an extent, which would make them more of a metasearch than independent alternative.

9
DaayTerkErJerbs 9 points ago +10 / -1

They seem to have legit results. They are woke though lol donated money to some pretty shitty lefty orgs but it was break the bank amounts. Curious why a search engine still trying to get capital to improve their product is donating anything but stupid gonna stupid.

7
AJoeDD 7 points ago +7 / -0

Just to throw out randomly... they could believe in these, being simple leftist aholes, at least in management. Or they could be thinking they'll get crushed by PR bullies who threaten them otherwise. Like, donate to my group or your racist. (They'll find a racist search result, show how duckduckgo has a higher rate of directing people to the KKK than google or whatever stupid plan they usually pull to try to convince people that an alternative is a hot-bed of extremism /clown honk)

8
Hshsvsvsvsv 8 points ago +8 / -0

I'm asking everybody to email duck-duckgo and tell them to replace Wikipedia results with infogalactic..

6
inglorious 6 points ago +6 / -0

Use Infogalatic Transporter plugin. I'm using it on Brave. Any time you click a Wikipedia link you go to the corresponding Infogalatic page. Works great.

5
AJoeDD 5 points ago +5 / -0

There's a wiki alternative? About time. Really needed. I'll email after checking them out.

4
JustinSonOfFidel 4 points ago +4 / -0

2
ValhallaGorilla 2 points ago +2 / -0

https://duckduckgo.com/donations

Which causes are shitty leftist orgs?

Seems all their donos are anti censorship

3
Warbeard 3 points ago +3 / -0

The ACLU is pro-planned parenthood and famous for its hyper-partisanship.

https://www.aclu.org/press-releases/aclu-stands-planned-parenthood

The Freedom of the Press Foundation is anti-Trump.

ttps://www.thedailybeast.com/free-press-group-set-to-cut-off-wikileaks

Demand Progress is a hyper-partisan left wing organization that accepts money from Soros' Open Society Policy Center.

https://demandprogress.org/online-activism/

https://www.influencewatch.org/non-profit/demand-progress-action/

Yes, an argument can be made that most blue-pilled people see these orgs as privacy or free speech orgs and I still give DuckDuckGo the benefit of the doubt because of that.

2
ValhallaGorilla 2 points ago +2 / -0

ah i see, i only lookdd at 2019 and 2020, and none of those were there

1
DaayTerkErJerbs 1 point ago +1 / -0

Don't remember it was years ago but it raised a lot of eyebrows at the time. It wasn't a lot of money so people overlooked it. I still use duckduckgo as my main search engine for about 8 years now. I want to say whatever they donated was somewhere between 50k-500k but honestly can't remember and have no interest in trying to find it.

8
XISUX 8 points ago +8 / -0

Not good enough. Antitrust. As long as Google is allowed to exist we are doomed.

3
JustinSonOfFidel 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'm sure the Biden DOJ will get right on that!

6
XISUX 6 points ago +6 / -0

The issue isn’t that there are other search engines. The problem is that Google controls EVERYTHING. This company cannot be allowed to continue! All these media giants need to be split, but Google is the monster.

Seriously, we need to be talking about ANTITRUST, and NOBODY is! Everyone remains distracted while Google keeps amassing more and more power. I fear it is already too late. These politicians are owned.

5

“Analysts have speculated that Mr. Torba’s media empire, which runs out of his garage and a sub basement at an undisclosed location, is worth over $10 billion if he takes in outside investors. When reached for comment, Mr. Torba said he has received unsolicited offers to purchase the GAB network for $5 billion and when asked why he refused, he said ‘My country isn’t for sale and God will provide and I’d rather die strapped to a gurney in a Chinese concentration camp while thousands of fire ants slowly consume my flesh than take a single penny from an outside investor who may attempt to adversely impact the network.’”

17
Staatssicherheit 17 points ago +17 / -0

Back Up Link: https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2021/02/09/google-quietly-escalates-manual-search-censorship/

But as Republicans and RINO's failed to impose any consequences on Google or other tech companies for their growing political interference and erosion of Americans’ ability to exercise their First Amendment rights online, Google and other tech companies became less concerned about hiding their acts of censorship.

The fact is that google results are not useful for intelligent people.

Google search results are polluted with SEO blog spam and curated philosophy. It is no longer a gateway to a wider world of ideas. You cannot grow as a person using google search.

Google search is like the rounded plastic toys given to toddlers so that they don't harm themselves. It's for simple minded people.

To be very clear, I'm not saying this out of political motivation. Google search is for simpletons.

I'm so impressed that google has decided to define the parameters of what constitutes:

Adult-themed content - (Biden sniffing little girls)

Dangerous content - (Hunter Biden's laptop content)

Harassing content - (Anytime Maxine Waters speaks)

Hateful content - (Anytime Nancy Pelosi speaks)

Manipulated media - (Anything MSM)

Medical content - (Anything Fauci might say)

Misleading content - (Anything Fauci does say)

Sexually explicit content - (Anything Bill Clinton ever said at his impeachment)

Terrorist content - (Anything China, Iran, North Korean says/publishes)

Transparency - (Anything you can't see through)

Violence and gore content - (Anything from Hollywood)

Vulgar language and profanity - (Anything a Uniparty Politicain says)

Thank you Google for making my life so much better and saving me by doing all the thinking for me.

Question: Would "FUCK YOU" fit in the Vulgar or Hateful or Dangerous category or possibly in all three? Can you think that out for me please?
