I was not impressed with how Trump's lawyers came across on the opening statements - the first guy seemed very unprepared and with lack of heart.
After listening to today's shitshow, I must say..... Donald Trump's defense better be the evidence of the stolen election. The Prosecution is entirely basing their offense on the "Big Lie". His defense must be that this trial is a sham because they rigged the election.

Why? Are you suggesting it will actually make a difference?

The world is watching this bullshit. They would have to turn away from the evidence being presented if they didn't want the Audience to see it, but the Audience would get a taste first. Many won't believe a thing, but it'd be quite a spectacle if he brought extreme, valuable, complicit evidence of corruption from within the very chamber floor holding him on trial. I'd like to imagine he let Mitch know that if Mitch doesn't play ball, the GOP is done. If Trump is impeached during this trial, no matter how bogus it is, there would be zero reason for any of us to remain a Republican. He would dismantle that party in one election cycle no matter how rigged they were, and Mitch knows this.

My expectations are very low - after seeing their opener, it is deflating and I have lost hope that there is any master plan. But I'd like to believe Trump was clever enough NOT to lose power to these pieces of shit and if he's got the evidence, he should provide it.

So after everything you've seen since Operation Russian Hoax, the fake impeachment, the stolen election, you actually believe anything Trump says will be televised....

You want Trump to take this circus seriously....

wont make a difference to the senators voting, but in the court of public opinion, I agree with your post. Many who consume only MSM probably have never heard the details of the election fraud tactics. Steve Cortez and Dr. Navarro should be brought in to explain it to them, or since Cortez has already made the videos, just play them. MSM will cut away to their pundits for sure.. at some point wouldnt a normie wonder what they are never allowed to see?

It would be a hard thing for the public to see, but if they can show absolute fraud with proof, after today's bullshit of repeated attacks at "The Big Lie" - Many people would realize what is going on here, even if they didn't want to.

Do we have to pretend like Trump is actually going to be convicted. The entire trial is fake, meaningless, and predetermined. I guess he could put on a better defense for style points or to score some public relations wins. That would cost a lot more money though. Really good lawyers charge a fortune. I'm curious how much these lawyers he hired cost. Probably half of what really good lawyers would cost.

The lawyers may essentially be plants who are there only to make a weak defense for show trial purposes.

Given that all elites are against him (even pence), I doubt you can get any lawyers who can represent Trump because anyone you get will be threatened/bribed to throw the fight essentially. And the threats will be extreme.

I mean think like boxing sports gambling corruption but it’s not just the fight promoter and friends looking to rig the match, it’s a lot more people than that.

William Jennings Bryan wouldn't have made a difference up there. The votes are already decided.

Is the impeachment an acknowledgement that he is really President.

His lawyers did seem to make that indication, but you know the answer is no. They would never admit that.

On the other hand, you know how they like to broadcast what they're up to thinking they are so clever that nobody will notice.
