Chad: "Hey government I need you to fix this pothole."

Government: "Maybe later, we've got better things to do."

Chad: "Fine I'll fix it myself."

Government: "The hell you will."

Chad: "There, it's fine now."

Government: "You're under arrest."

scenario #2

Chad: "Hey government I need you to fix this pothole."

Government: "Maybe later, we've got better things to do."

Chad: "Hey government I need you to fix my cars rim i bent from this pothole."

Government: "shit, well send a check after you fight in court"

Chad: "Hey government I need you to fix this pothole again."

Government: "Maybe later, we've got better things to do."

Chad: "Hey government I need you to fix my cars rim i bent from this pothole."

10k later chad buys nice car

Wait, you got the government's attention and they responded to you? Which government building did you have to storm in order to do that?

6
PeacefullautoFlavor 6 points ago +6 / -0

LOL, just a phone call and some paperwork i hear idk SWIM told me , but your local city usually handles it pretty well if your local has a council for it. my current city NO way would they go for this but in bigger cities o yea they planned for this they rather buy a rim over a hurt kneck lawsuit and way more "malicious" attacks on them

3
PeacefullautoFlavor 3 points ago +3 / -0

SWIM told me too 4 stairs or more needs a hand rail DONT fall LOL, ADA compliance is NOT a joke in CA

8

Actually getting the government to be found at fault? What?

7
quell2 7 points ago +7 / -0

Yeah. Town busted the waterpipe leading from the road (town property) to my parents house after dragging massive construction equipment down the street. Told my parents to get bent, fixing it was my parent's problem.

1
PeacefullautoFlavor 1 point ago +1 / -0

town is key word im talkin city, it goes up to contractors and insurance, towns dont have this setup and shit can you

1
PeacefullautoFlavor 1 point ago +1 / -0

yea because, you turn it into the city not the state, CA has bought LOTS of rims for SWIM

3
GeoG85 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's not really Chad because the government's paying you with your tax dollars.

:/

3
PeacefullautoFlavor 3 points ago +3 / -0

that all depends, most of it comes from bills/eo/funding from the shit tards , yea its "tax money" but buy rims for potholes or genders study in pakistan ? you can only answer that one way.......... basically pay tax get nothing back or they broke your rim because you paid and they didnt do shit now you have a problem you fix it. ive seen it go down. let me break this down . machine shop owner SWIM has a ZR-1 its a normal ca road a sink hole formed , 10x + , fix pour asphalt in it , you know much a zr-1 rim cost ? what if you took out 4 fronts and 5 rears on a 150k car extra paid taxes getting raped by china ......... you tell the city im ballin i paid PLENTY of tax fix yur road my ballin ass vette is broke because you suck ..... they will fix your wheels , SEEN IT

DrHase 1 point ago +1 / -0

Every penny of tax that gets wasted on court settlements, etc. is a penny less tax that will be spent on leftist projects.

10
GaTechGrad 10 points ago +10 / -0

I remember a story where this pretty much happened... except it was something like broken steps at a public park and someone fixed them. Can't remember if the guy was arrested or fined. Then the government redid the steps again because they said it wasn't up to their codes.

14
CookiesNCream 14 points ago +14 / -0

Yeah, I remember seeing that, too. The city said it would cost $65,000 for 8 steps or something. Guy went out and did it for $550, and the city ripped them out.

NullifyAndSecede 6 points ago +6 / -0

Once one concedes that a single world government is not necessary, then where does one logically stop at the permissibility of separate states? If Canada and the United States can be separate nations without being denounced as in a state of impermissible ‘anarchy’, why may not the South secede from the United States? New York State from the Union? New York City from the state? Why may not Manhattan secede? Each neighbourhood? Each block? Each house? Each person

Y’all got pavement roads????

19
TommyLasordasBallBag 19 points ago +20 / -1

Dirty trucks mean dirt roads. Dirt roads mean dirty hands. Dirty hands make clean money. Fuck pavement

9
Major_Nutt 9 points ago +9 / -0

Not everyone drives a truck as their primary, and my roadster doesn't like dirt.

4
TommyLasordasBallBag 4 points ago +4 / -0

Neither does my Mustang. But the 1/4 mile is mostly rubber. My F-250 on the other hand groans when she hits pavement... It's probably the 38's.. but I like to think she likes being off road

6
CatfishJack 6 points ago +6 / -0

True story about my F-250 SD. Before escaping King Ralph the Blackface Northam’s Virginia I was minding my own business one day driving around I-495 on my way home when it kicked into the regen/cleaning cycle and a big white cloud of smoke came pouring out of the tailpipes pretty much obliterating the view of the 4 lanes of traffic behind me. Suddenly a woman in a little lime green Prius pulls up next to me tooting her horn and waving her arms with a look of horror on her face. I smiled waved and kept going on my way. When I got off the highway a couple minutes later I pulled into a Giant Food to pick up some delightfully refreshing adult beverages and a bag of Utz potato chips to compliment the pork butt in the smoker anxiously awaiting my return home.

As I got out of my big black F-250 suddenly the little lime green Prius pulled up to my rear bumper and the woman jumps out screeching like a banshee about me killing trees, children, puppies and the planet. I said, “Lady I’m going inside for a couple minutes and if you’re still sitting behind my truck when I back out of here I might accidentally run over that piece of crap and crush it like the empty beer can it was made from.

A short while later as I left the store I noticed the flashing lights of a VA State Police and Fairfax County Police cruiser sitting within close proximity to my truck with the woman from the little lime green Prius pointing at me. The State Police Trooper approached me and asked if I was carrying. I said yes sir would you like to see my CCWP. He said yes please along with your drivers license, registration and your weapon. He said he used to carry a Sig P299 and preferred it to the Glock he now carried. I said, I’ve never really cared for those plastic guns either. He then asked me why I threatened the life of the lady in the little lime green Prius. I said I did not threaten her life but I may have mentioned crushing her little lime green Prius when I backed out if she didn’t move it. Then I explained exactly what had transpired over the 30 minutes prior to when he introduced himself to me.

He said the screaming lady said I threatened to kill her when I returned from the store. i said that was not true but I did mention telling her I mught crush her car like an empty beer can if she refused to move it as I was concerned about the pork butt in the smoker. He said while it was a poor choice of words on my part he believed I did not threaten her life. He also said we hope you understand when they ran my tags it showed I had a concealed weapons permit and the lady in the little line green Prius told 911 I threatened her life.

The State Police Trooper said he didn’t see any reason to detain me further, returned my ID and Sig P229 and said I was free to go. Then he went to speak with the Fairfax county police officer who was preoccupied with the lady from the little lime green Prius who was still viability upset. They spoke smiled and said something to the lady who began screeching and hitting the State Police Trooper on the chest. By that time the vehicle parked in front of me had left and as I was leaving I saw the Lady from the little green Prius being put into the back of the Fairfax Country Police Cruiser handcuffed.

I learned a valuable lesson that day and that is, if you drive a little lime green Prius don’t screech at a Virginia State Police Trooper and pound on his chest because someone in a big black F-250 Super Duty is destroying the planet when it goes into regen cycle.

5
FormerGraveheart 5 points ago +5 / -0

The ironic thing is how that awful regen cycle is part of the emissions equipment that actually improves emissions, as well as reduces the reliability and lifetime of the engine, increases the cost of making it, reduces fuel economy, etc.

2
CatfishJack 2 points ago +2 / -0

I’ve had diesels since the 70s and they were a lot more dependable and lasted longer without all these “improved emissions” equipment mandates. But it won’t be long till we fondly recall the days when diesel fuel could be purchased legally and we longed to see a regen cycle cloud following us down the road.

There are a lot of middle aged American women out there running around off their meds. That is nuts.

In defence of the Prius it is a very well made vehicle. I sometimes do a bit of work at a garage that repairs taxis and most of their fleet are 1.8 and 2.0 TDCI Ford Mondeos, a few Skoda Octavia 2.0TDI's a few Toyota Avensis 1.8 petrols and a bunch of Prius's. I have replaced the batteries and done a few wheel bearings and maybe the odd exhaust or shock absorber but they really are well made. It's a shame about the kind of people who drive them.

2
Pegstar69 2 points ago +2 / -0

As a middle-aged American woman, you are correct. Way too many Kunts among us. The vaccine should winnow some, however.

1
CatfishJack 1 point ago +1 / -0

I have a brother in law who owns a NAPA car care ctr. who says they’re a lot better now than when they first hit the roads but a F-250 SD vs a Prius in any direction would’ve been ugly. Afterwards I realized it could have turned out a lot different had a couple liberal minded county policeman showed up that day. I was lucky the state trooper was there and seemed to take control of the situation. When she saw my handgun out and hand it to the trooper I instantly became a mass murderer. And the fact he really liked it didn’t go unnoticed either.

I don’t think the middle aged woman off her meds driving a Prius has as much to do with it as does the crazed liberal anti-everything mindset. Albeit you might be on to something. It might be a good idea if Toyota required liberal women of any age to be on meds before buying a Prius in order to protect their brand.

1
operation_eland 1 point ago +1 / -0

Sadly going to all dirt roads probably wouldn't be viable because heavy goods vehicles would probably struggle to use them. Transit times would increase significantly and they would eat wheel bearings and suspension parts.

That said how many places in the rural United States are paying $$$ to maintain tarmac roads they could do without?

30

California has some of the worst overall road quality in the entire U.S. and yet we simultaneously have the 2nd highest gas taxes. Why? Because Dear Leaders use the PTA as their personal slush fund, and when the coffers started getting low because too many people were driving electric cars (after all their talk about renewables and cutting reliance on fossil fuels), Dear Leaders created a special user fee just for them to offset the account's budget shortfalls. Isn't the government great? To them, people are nothing more than commodities to be milked for revenue. No matter what, they're gonna get their pound of flesh.

If they were here then we could do it. If they were here to boss us around and steal our money and really inefficiently build the flat places, then we would be set. Then I would be comfortable and confident that I could get places. But I can’t go to Fred’s house or the market because we can’t possibly build a flat space from A to B. We can make these really small devices that enable us to contact people from all over the word that fits in our pockets; we can make machines that we drive around in, but no, we can’t possibly build a flat space." - Larken Rose

I mean.. I’m cool with dirt roads. When we start using American machinery and materials to rebuild roads instead of renting them from the UK and Europe.. then I’ll support it more. How ‘bout we get some good old fashioned American manufacturing back in the automobile game and build all the parts to last like we used to rather then buy ones from China built to break down after 2 years? If a few bumps in the road destroy your $40,000+, 1/2 ton, steel vehicle.. the problem might not be the road.. that said.. stop sending our money to other countries! We got enough shit to deal with at home. If individual civilians choose to donate their own money elsewhere they can totally do that. But that ain’t the government’s job. Government has one responsibility. It it’s people. That’s it. No one else. Even treaties exist to help our people, they aren’t there just to be nice.

This is a fairly prominent road for cyclists along the river danube, but most cycling roads, even obscure ones, are like that:

https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=treppelweg%20donau&qs=n&form=QBIR&sp=-1&pq=treppelweg%20donau&sc=1-16&first=1&tsc=ImageHoverTitle

These are modern country roads:

https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=landstra%C3%9Fe%20burgenland&qs=n&form=QBIRMH&sp=-1&pq=landstra%C3%9Fe%20burgenland&sc=0-21&first=1&tsc=ImageBasicHover

Autobahn and Highways are more or less impeccable most of the time, because the government is obsessed with road construction. The strange thing is that the same government has been running an anti-automobile-psy-op for decades now. The tiling and paving of all those cycling- and walking routes has been a 30-year effort, after the government had run out of other roads to tile and pave.

If you don't mind a government making more money with your work than you do, go ahead and tax people for road construction.

Funnily enough, almost if not all government functions like this would be better performed by local communities contracting private businesses in an open, competitive tender process. They already outsource most of the practical work to crony union mates.

If this practice were extended to police, education and healthcare, we'd get a better quality of service and useless employees would not enjoy so much job security at public expense.
