If anything, their interference in the market only heightens the incentive to build private roads. The problem is that would-be builders are either too apathetic or their roads would be unpopular because of the methods by which said private enterprises would attempt to recoup the costs (i.e. tolls). Nevermind that said roads would more than likely be used to fulfill the interests of the private group first and the public second (like literally every other private enterprise, as is the point).

If the state "robs us" for the service, do you not use roads at all? This part of the argument simply doesn't hold water whatsoever. Go on, don't pay for the public roads. Enjoy that trespassing charge when you do try to use them though.

Last I checked, the government DOES maintain the roads, or have you never seen one freshly paved before? What I don't seem to remember is any claim or contract regarding a timetable. Simply because something isn't done to your specific, personal timescale is in no way indicative of any kind of "mugging" or whatever other hyperbolic allusion to theft you want to use.

If "any mouth breather" can do it, why aren't you? You clearly haven't evolved to the point where you can breath out of your nose yet, so you seem like you'd be the perfect fit. As long as you aren't literally out in the middle of traffic trying to fix it, or in broad daylight, or do it fucking wrong, you should be fine.

Oh wait, that's right. You're a fucking mouth breather, so you clearly would be the guy who'd attempt to fix the pothole with cars zooming past you.

The government exists because the private citizenry exists. A promise made by the government is one made by the private citizenry, and clearly you look down your nose at them.
