Holy shit funny I was just having this exact thought last night!
There were hundreds of arrests, right? We were all told that this was deemed some form of insurrection, right?
Funny, I have yet to hear of anyone rightfully charged with insurrection. I figure that would be all over the news.
Never going to happen. People throw around terms like "insurrection" and "treason" in reference to the law....but have no idea how the law works.
It's insanely hard to convict anyone of those things. Including spies who sell secret military tech to enemies. Even active duty military soldiers have been caught planning attacks on their fellow soldiers for various groups...still not charged with treason.
The last convictions for treason stemmed from WW2 and the only time the death penalty was administered were a handful of instances around the Civil War. Even George Washington pardoned a man from the Whiskey Rebellion so he wouldn't hang. Our country doesn't do that shit.
