My gripe are the ones who move to Texas and buy a big pickup. They drive them as if they have 18 wheels. And then there is the trash everywhere now. Like don’t they use trash cans in blue states!

The blue state imports are just confused.
Most blue states are trash cans.

not really they give a family of 6 a trashcan too small for a bachelor and give you one bulk pickup per quarter....so half the time most of your trash does not fit in the bin. Ever since they repalced garbage men with this automated arm it is impossible to throw away all your trash unless you just throw it in the recycle bin and hope you dont get fined.

Where i last lived at in Texas, we were sort of out in the county which meant you hired a garbage company / service or went to the city landfill / transfer station.

Here in NC where I am at, they have county container sites.
If you live in the county, you are forced to pay for it.
Whether you use it or not. They throw it on your tax bill.
Every year the price goes up and the services go down.

we don't even have that we have to pay an actual landfill 20 dollars to dump shit so it can blow onto the highway...because turbulent air displacement and wind near a landfill....great idea

When I first came here, it was optional to buy the decal you use for admittance to the facility.
In the past 10 years, the price went from $75 a year to now $190.
The city transfer station charges 2 cents per pound & a guaranteed flat tire repair charge within 48 hours of your visit.

There is no excuse for trashing the earth

Agreed. I should have stated it was sarcasm. My apologies.

No........rednecks do that......lol burning trash even when i lived in the boonies was considered an asshole move unless it was just wood and paper....but the retards who burn their kids diapers, and plastic bottles who make a pristine evergreen forest smell like the fucking city......they deserve drowning and strangulation.

Odd... in the north a big pick up means you have a small dick.

I dont know anyone that would go buy a big pick up on purpose unless they use them.

I hear we sell big pick up trucks here because we want to be like the hillbillies in texas.. that come here and need to be taught how to flush a toilet or use a washing machine.

Texans really need to start culturally bullying newcomers into submission. Those who truly do hate the blue shitholes they left will freely conform to it and those who are too stupid to realize they caused the mess they just left will leave because its a state full of chuds.

Remember there was an article a few weeks ago about someone from cali who had to leave Austin because it was too right wing and conservative for him.

I have a true appreciation for Texas.
Lived in four different parts & I would say the hardest place I lived in was south Texas. About 100 miles from Houston.
The name of the town was Blessing.

My favorite is a toss up between Granbury & Athens. A little more Athens because I was there the longest.

Still I would live in any part of Texas & be grateful to be there.

The county i live in here in NC, votes 83% Democrat. 🥺

I've lived in Texas for 16 years now, still don't own a cowboy hat. Also, I still consider myself a Tarheel. People who wear a hat for style are ridiculed, "All hat and no cattle".

Vermin 3 points ago +3 / -0

Wanna trade?
I am in the Tarheel state & ready to come back to Texas?

I’ve lived in Texas for 36 years, and I do own a cowboy hat, but I’ve never worn it for anything other than working in the sun.

Boots are worse than cowboy hats. They always pick some square toed nonsense that no one here wears and think they’ve got some real life cowboy boots.

Edit: I know...they like those square toe bullshits out in west Texas these days. I blame roughneck transplants from other states.

JustTheNews [S] 1 point ago +2 / -1

lol, they only wear them once, then they go back home and use them as flower pots tbh

Harris County is a goddamn disgrace, in terms of governance, but even there, most people are in “leave me the fuck alone mode.” That might express itself in liberal ways, but the sentiment is largely and widely shared amongst locals.

We have shitty local governance thanks to corruption, the last “straight ticket” voting scam that accidentally ousted an insanely popular county judge, and places like the Fifth Ward.

I can’t speak for Austin. That place is just insane.

I’m originally from a Four Corners state, so I grew up in a part of America that didn’t participate in the Civil War. Like, at all. But I can say that there is nothing more irritating here in Texas than Yankee carpetbaggers. That is, people from New England who think they have some kind of mandate to teach the ignorant unwashed masses of Texans how things “should be.” I know some of them personally and it is fucking irritating.

But cowboy hats? Ehh, you kind of need a hat and a pair of cowboy boots for parties and the rodeo and stuff so I don’t see that as a big deal.

As a northerner who’s never been to Texas, but has it on the list of good places to move, this upsets me quite a bit. I would be the guy that goes down there and wants to soak up everything Texas has to teach me. But when people find out I’m from New England and California, they’re probably gonna eyeroll because they think I’m there to teach them.

Like nooo take me on a hog hunt, let’s jam some gears, I’ll help you fix your fence, I’ll work with you on the hunting cabin you’re building! I wanna clean a deer and put it in the freezer and have meat for months! Teach me your ways!

you know a few.........Show me who your friends are and I can tell you who you are.

1
tholins 1 point ago +1 / -0

They’re in-laws, not friends (husband is libertarian but most of his family is hard left). And a couple of co-workers who drive me up the fucking wall.

Interestingly, one of the biggest carpetbaggers at my office has recently started noticing that his side of the aisle is weaponizing the Internet. And he doesn’t like that at all.

I’d say that the southern half is communist, but at least it’s growing a lot more pro trump and is starting to reject democrats, they may be what saves us from Austin and all those other Californian hubs.
