I'm in a family business, if we go up to $15 an hour, we're looking at doling out another grand a week, roughly, which we frankly can't afford. That means either people get fired or we sell. I don't like either of those options. Obligatory: Damn the Man

Just double your prices of your product. Double labor, double product. I know it wouldn't normally work like that but since every competitor will be experiencing the same doubled minimum wage, everything will double. Then any employee who WAS making $15 an hour is going to have to start making $30 an hour... and all the Home Depot employees will make double so all your materials will be double.... So the value of money will simply be cut in half.

The problem is that I assume the bigger companies have ways to move money around that I don't, and they don't care about firing people
