One of the big results of every service taking their content to in house streaming is it made it too hard to find what you want to watch compared to a torrent search with everything in one place.
I've used tv/devices to "babysit" as well. It's totally understandable. But take heed: my kids are older now and the effort to keep them from being filled with nonsense is very hard. And it is very hard to get them to put down the devices.
You don't miss what you never had.
A DVD player and a dozen "normal" classic kids movies works well too.
Internet Archive is amazing. I learned so much crap watching 50s-60s A/V era clips on UHF when I was a kid.
Of course, downloading it and organizing it is a PITA when you're busy.
What we really need is an independent channel with pro-US, pro-Western, kid-friendly content. Bible Story Cartoons, Good values like Work before Play, etc.
I'd totally help crowdfund it if there is anything like it.

I almost think it's intentional that they spread the 'good' shows out to all the various pay channels and streaming services. I watch a few shows, but if I had to pay for all the various channels and such, it would cost a small fortune. Monthly fee for a good VPN is a much better value. Aye matey!

Network brass are pretty assholes, and in their bubble world of TV scripted drama production they certainly know one another--and although of course they are all in unspoken agreement about the leftist bullshit they all breathe--they don't like one another and are quite competitive about making the hottest new show (for the least money possible). The fact that every service has what they consider their flagship show is just how the business is run. They're all envious of each others' success, and the network brass at each studio/network want to be the biggest swinging dick; the fact that Viacom owns them all anyway doesn't matter since the creator/exec decision-makers don't get to hobnob with Viacom execs, who are involved in TV primarily to make fiat directives focused on scripting fake news channels (scripted drama/comedy they just passively let make money).
The hilarity is realizing that so many of the so-called flagship shows are still so laughably bad (like See on Apple TV, and of course the abortion that is Star Trek Discovery/Picard on CBS All Access) despite costing hundreds of millions of dollars to make.
But anyway, piracy is still a thing, and quite easy. Just don't download the HD [1080] New Release.mpx.dvd.bluray.mp4.exe file of a movie that isn't actually out yet (because that'll be a virus) and you'll be OK.

Netflix ruined the buisness model for cable packages, and was getting more viewership and purchases than people adding HBO or Cinemax to their cable packages - which had reached obnoxious levels of cost. I know people who were paying $400, $500 a month because every tv in the house had to have all the channels, or the wife and kids would lose their minds.
That's always how it works. In spite of The Narrative and the unspoken leftist directives governing all creative production now, sometimes a creator unplugs and just makes something good. In this case it was two talented director/producers who love Star Wars the way the rest of us used to (and doubtlessly hate the Kennedy/Johnson/Abrams trilogy even more than we do for having been party to insider knowledge of its production), making a simple Western story that gets all the world details right (more easily said than done).
But once the "rogue" creator makes something that exists on its own merits, independent of The System and The Narrative, the system surely comes knocking and regardless of the temerity of the original creator (in this case Favreau & friends), unless the creator is paying the bills themselves (and these days, that's simply not possible for 10-million-per-episode TV, or in the case of Mandalorian, probably 15-20), the network/studio will begin to inject their bullshit into the show, and ruin it as fast as possible. Internally, they'll manage to either whip the creator into submission, or alienate the creator to leave entirely, as in their boundless arrogance most execs believe they can just slot new creators in to manage a property as if it existed a priori and can be "managed" in perpetuity.
Mark my words, they are dozens, if not hundreds of Disney worthless execs who desire more than anything else to demand more sickly Diverse Strong Female Characters (and probably a troon or two) be given lead-status, and Mando (despite being portrayed by a Chilean son of communists) humiliated as unable to solve challenges that Strong Female can overcome with her Magic Mary Sue powers. And these people doubtlessly think this is An Important Thing To Do (TM), because the brainwashing is that bad.
switch to either kodi (powerful box if you like customization) or syncler app (12 dollar yearly fee, but very easy and clean) with a debrid service (real-debrid/premiumize.me) that streams cached torrents directly to you at line saturation speeds. No need to think about what you want to watch and torrent it first, 99% of items are already cached in multiple qualities and streamable at a click. best money you'll ever spend on entertainment.
What's the best Kodi add-on for streaming tv shows and movies? I have it and am trying it (so far with Exodus Redux add-on) but I just get "no stream available" errors.
