That's always how it works. In spite of The Narrative and the unspoken leftist directives governing all creative production now, sometimes a creator unplugs and just makes something good. In this case it was two talented director/producers who love Star Wars the way the rest of us used to (and doubtlessly hate the Kennedy/Johnson/Abrams trilogy even more than we do for having been party to insider knowledge of its production), making a simple Western story that gets all the world details right (more easily said than done).
But once the "rogue" creator makes something that exists on its own merits, independent of The System and The Narrative, the system surely comes knocking and regardless of the temerity of the original creator (in this case Favreau & friends), unless the creator is paying the bills themselves (and these days, that's simply not possible for 10-million-per-episode TV, or in the case of Mandalorian, probably 15-20), the network/studio will begin to inject their bullshit into the show, and ruin it as fast as possible. Internally, they'll manage to either whip the creator into submission, or alienate the creator to leave entirely, as in their boundless arrogance most execs believe they can just slot new creators in to manage a property as if it existed a priori and can be "managed" in perpetuity.
Mark my words, they are dozens, if not hundreds of Disney worthless execs who desire more than anything else to demand more sickly Diverse Strong Female Characters (and probably a troon or two) be given lead-status, and Mando (despite being portrayed by a Chilean son of communists) humiliated as unable to solve challenges that Strong Female can overcome with her Magic Mary Sue powers. And these people doubtlessly think this is An Important Thing To Do (TM), because the brainwashing is that bad.
Mandalorian is a good TV show and I don't even like Star Wars. It's really a story about father/son relationship. Not too much sjw bs in there either.
