Super delegates will ensure there can never be a populist takeover of the Democrat party. Just ask any Bernie supporter.
But you're right that establishing a new right wing party will only split the vote. Canada tried to create a new right wing party twice and ended up with Liberal governments each time. The Reform Party was split from the conservatives in the 90s, and the People's Party in the most recent election. Turned into a disaster for us both times. Don't make the same mistake we made.
Take over the Republican party at the county and precinct level. That's the best course for America.
With all due respect, the People's Party didn't split the vote at all. They got nothing. They polled at 8 percent in some areas, but they got around 0.02% of the national vote. Not a single PP candidate even split the vote in their own race except Bernier himself.
But yes, taking over the GOP has to be done. Patriot Party is not a good idea. The GOP has had more than a century to establish its name recognition, and name recognition is half, if not more than half the battle.
Fair point about the people's party. Full disclosure I voted for them in 2019 but in my riding its either red or orange so it was sort of meaningless in my case.
But as much as I liked the Reform Party, a decade plus of liberal majorities definitely damaged Canada
Impossible.

You dont need to win the whole thing to take it over. You need to start at the local level.
