Greatest cartoon episode ever tbh. There are some great old school Simpsons episodes, but that episode included the following: messages of hope, melees, Taps being played because of a horrific death scene, and an awesome cheesy 80s hair metal ballad end song like any true 80s staple.

Oh I love it so much. Early Spongebob was all gold, but that episode in particular really stands out. I miss good cartoons. If/when I have children I’m gonna download all those old Nickelodeon toons or get DVDs and that’s all they’ll watch. No modern cartoons since they’re all either woke garbage, or completely stupid and inane with no moral lessons whatsoever.
Man, The Simpsons used to be so good too.
But my boyfriend spoiled me with letting me watch nothing but obscure Christmas cartoons during the holidays gaha
First 10 seasons are national treasures. You get some good episodes up through about season 13, but they really started to degrade in quality around then. Thankfully, Futurama picked up the slack. Contemporary Simpsons is garbage and I don’t consider it canon.

Even that's debatable. Season 2 had so many good episodes, including one of the best Christmas specials in any show ever.

Don't remind me Back when Avatar Last Airbender was airing originally, they would cancel episodes of Avatar for Spongebob reruns It's to the point that they simply refused to air new episodes that were already made because of Spongebob. NICK insisted it was because action didn't generate ratings even though Avatar was commercially and critically successful and had massive crossappeal. So people who were super invested in Avatar had to download the new episodes as ota encodes since they were actually airing them in Europe The whole thing finished airing in Europe before it did here because between new Spongebob episodes and Spongebob marathons they treated Avatar like garbage. So I'm the lone pede who hates Spongebob memes and simply doesn't get it. When I read people comparing it to golden age Simpsons or first two seasons Family Guy and Futurama, I don't understand at all since pretty much those were the absolute peak of comedy animation. I grew up watching golden age Simpsons and the sheer amount of literature, pop culture, and comedy it exposed me to was mind blowing. I REALLY don't laugh when I read about foreigners who learned English or truly became American in mindset because they watched the Simpsons Unfortunately several generations younger have memed and shitposted this god awful POS Spongebob show into eternity. My wife and I once gave a ride to a much younger cousin who was visiting her aunt over the summer..she spent two hours going leedle leedle leedle on the way from Louisiana to Houston and it waa the most insufferable time in my life.

I had a small person lunchbox that was SpongeBob, and it had a SpongeBob charge card it. I would take it to the bars with me whenever I go out drinking. People loved it
