THE WHAT- I put in my resignation yesterday for the end of the month on a very high paying job. As I am in sales, walking away yesterday would have screwed my team over. I'm not angry nor do I want to burn any bridges(the people I work with have been and still are amazing to be around), but it was just something I had to do. Was it crazy, stupid, a mistake, the best decision I made? Time will tell. But I AM WILLING to lose everything I've worked for in order to gain the level of independence I want. This is a sink or swim scenario for me. I did not save/prepare for this decision. It did need to be made though. FOR ME. Last week we lost a good friend/co-worker at my place of business. We all put in crazy long hours and pretty much work everyday. With my friends death, I thought "if I was destined NOT to wake up tomorrow, would I want my final hours spent making someone else money, stuck inside, and not enjoying time with my friends and family?! Plenty of money, but no real quality of life. So I started thinking, A hamster on a golden wheel is still a hamster on a wheel. THE WHY- I finally reached my burn out point(5 years in now) and with my friends death I really had to take a look and my life and happiness. I looked, and I was highly lacking in fulfillment/enjoyment. This is why I decided to take the risk and why I think you should too.. Listen closely my friends, if America isn't going to be America much longer, GO GET AND DO YOUR AMERICAN DREAM BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!

U got big balls man, I'm happy for you. I'm to the point now where I would rather be happy and poor than working my life away. My father worked hard his whole life but we never did much. Im done with trying to work my life away. I run my own business and I'm happy, now to get rid of all our debt!
^ this. interest rates are zero because they want us to gorge on debt, and become debt slaves. get the debt out of your lives, 'pedes!! simplify your life, you will have more freedom and control. just my take.
5 engineers retired early this year where I work my bags are packed and ready the moment they mandate the shot. ....its👌👈 you big man...
Same. Won't take the shot and won't wear a mask. I work for a public institution so this is only a matter of time.
Good luck, Fren.
Make something, sell something, and start over again.
Remember the words of our stable genius "Never, ever, give up."
Happiness is worth far more than cash. Also if you have moretime to make you not work the priority the end result usally turns out better.
Little monies, little worries. Life isn't supposed to be running on a hamster wheel. Plan the life you desire and execute that plan. You'll never regret it.
Long ago and far away, DH made the same decision, choosing to branch out on his own rather than continue under a stifling upper management. After a while, his younger son joined him as a business partner. Today the company is wildly successful, DH is happily retired, and younger son is enjoying running a company his way. The thing is, the decision you just made can positively impact not only your own life, but the lives of others, if you play it right. Good for you, and best of good fortune attend you on your new path.
You will not regret the decision. This is the first day of YOUR life - and the last time your talents will go towards increasing someone else's wealth! I took this leap over 10 years ago and never ever looked back.
I can't even remember the names of the bosses who made me work on vacations and miss time with my family. I only remember being tied to a laptop checking mail or being on conference bridges and looking outside to see my kids playing on the beach without me.
Be hungry, be nimble and go get your future my friend.
I agree with this. worth much more to be happy with a little than angry/depressed with a lot. Money has been the carrot they have been dangling in front of us.
Good for you. Remember, the deal we're making involves the best years of our lives - for what? You asked that question and I think you answered it well - owning it whatever it may bring. Respect.
Best of luck!! You can be successful if you have a good business model that takes advantage of the times. In any era.
Working for yourself or leaving to find Galt’s Gulch? I’d recommend making some babies, most satisfying thing ever.
I resigned in October and used my free time to volunteer for my local Trump Victory campaign office.
I've started my own business as a freelance consultant. Never going to self-censor myself for any amount of shekels ever again! Feels good, man!
Would love to do this, but there is one catch...what do you do about money?
Good. Make something somebody wants. It's that simple, just not easy.
Maybe it’s not for you- but getting closer to our maker is a good way to find meaning, now that you more free time. Check it out!
I had done the same a few months ago. Very similar, burnt out and not really wanting to make money for someone else. Good luck!
Well frens, I've been at it on my own a few weeks now. Got one project up and rolling so far. Made a YT channel that focuses on motivation and inspiration. Again my goal with it is to help other people see its ok to take a chance on what you want! "Beard Bytes" is the channel. I plan on keeping an open mind with it and just super pumped to see what happens!
