He's Mormon, I'm Mormon... That's it. I think we trusted him to follow God and not be corruptable, but, like the book of Mormon says, all will be revealed. The church is made up of humans and humans are inherently flawed. That's sort of the plan. He uses his agency poorly either because he's flawed or corrupted and flawed; not sure which yet. Personally, I think he meant well but lines were drawn and he convinced himself he is in the right. He is deluded and lost in the mist of darkness.
