Seriously though, we all laugh our asses off at Bernie Sanders for drafting endless legislation that goes absolutely nowhere.

How is this any less silly.

Gluteusmax 113 points ago +118 / -5

Creates a paper trail of who is swamp.

How else could one determine who gets rewarded later for their swampy tendencies?

In Minecraft, of course.

How long does that paper trail need to be?

7
fskfsk 7 points ago +7 / -0

Not gonna generate a paper trail, because the Democrats control the House, which means it won't even come up for a vote.

5
Cesare_Borgia 5 points ago +5 / -0

Does it though? It'll never be voted on.

Let's get these people on record.

It establishes where the Overton window needs to go.

Our position is not "common sense gun control". It is no gun control.

This establishes that as where we will negotiate from.

electrictrout1776 30 points ago +31 / -1

We have a stable genius here!

26
Itateeverybody 26 points ago +26 / -0

My original family is all leftwing (mom dad brother sisters).

I grew up hearing all their bullshit and understand exactly how their slippery slope shit works and how to counter it.

2
CuomoisaMassMurderer 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's become a slippery CLIFF

9
Pierre_Delectoes 9 points ago +9 / -0

This isn't where the window needs to go. It needs to go far further. Gun control is already explicitly unconstitutional so we shouldn't need a bill to defund gun control agencies. Why does it even exist in the first place? Because the corrupt courts rewrote the explicit text of the constitution to allow it. We need every judge who has ever supported gun control in any form impeached and then executed for treason. When I see a resolution introduced advocating for that, then we can say that's where the Overton window needs to be.

5
Itateeverybody 5 points ago +5 / -0

We also need the income tax to be rescinded and for the fed to raise rates and stop printing money.

But none of that is gonna happen peacefully, which means we aren't talking about legislation.

2
CuomoisaMassMurderer 2 points ago +2 / -0

We need every judge who has ever supported gun control in any form impeached and then executed for treason. When I see a resolution introduced advocating for that, then we can say that's where the Overton window needs to be.

Sir hanging Judge Overton!

5
NullifyAndSecede 5 points ago +5 / -0

Then why not a bill to repeal the laws rather than make their enforcement necessarily selective?

Especially considering that even this has no realistic chance of passing why not go the full monte?

8
Itateeverybody 8 points ago +8 / -0

Ok, have you tried emailing or calling your representative and asking them to draft such legislation?

2
Forbidden_outcast 2 points ago +2 / -0

What laws have been repealed since the beginning of the country?

2
NormaJeanRocks 2 points ago +2 / -0

Prohibition of booze

2

"Negotiate." Heh.

Meet my little friend and DANCE!

25
ProfessorOak 25 points ago +25 / -0

This is being pushed in state legislatures where it actually passed in Missouri. I see this more as a way to get SAPA publicity. Everyone needs to see how they can get this passed in their own state. We don't need this passed at the federal level. We need all the states to refuse to comply with an unconstitutional federal government. Use the states to revoke Biden's authority and make his administration a living hell for the democrats.

16
HeavyMetalPatriot 16 points ago +16 / -0

It's use of state power as a form of "soft secession". It's a smart move and every red state needs to start throwing down hard. I bet the Keystone XL pipeline could be continued if each of the connecting states just said fuck you Xiden.

8
ProfessorOak 8 points ago +8 / -0

I'm hoping the states will get a little taste of the kind of power they used to wield and keep pushing for more sovereignty.

6
HeavyMetalPatriot 6 points ago +6 / -0

1000% agreed! But state power, not governor power. It's gotta be the people of the state flexing their power.

5
Forbidden_outcast 5 points ago +5 / -0

Exactly. It must be the people, not the executive

2
CuomoisaMassMurderer 2 points ago +2 / -0

God I love this place!

2
FormerGraveheart 2 points ago +2 / -0

I wish we hadn't lost so damned many members. Feels like 75% of us are gone now.

5
Pierre_Delectoes 5 points ago +5 / -0

State's passing this law does nothing. Its like the blue states refusing to cooperate with federal agents on immigration. The federal agents still enforce the law in those states, they just don't get state backup or intelligence.

What we need are states to start decriminalizing killing or assaulting federal agents executing unlawful gun control actions within that state. The guy in the Gulag Archipelago said it best. If the jackboots of the tyrannical government have to fear for their lives every time they go to enforce an unjust law, there will be far fewer jackboots.

8
GaTechGrad 8 points ago +8 / -0

I remember people laughing at Bernie 20 years ago for being a socialist. Now look at where we are at. It's all about moving the Overton Window.

3
pente1776 3 points ago +3 / -0

So republicans should do nothing? That's part of the problem.

28
muy_libre 28 points ago +28 / -0

This woman is not there to fuck around.

11
Trump__Supporter 11 points ago +11 / -0

Hopefully, she would still do this with "gop" in control.
We've seen a lot of gop talk though when not in power, and then betray everyone when they are in control.
Hopefully, she would stay the course, but we won't know for now.

5
uiopy1 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yeah, literally. It was so infuriating to see all the GOP legislation introduced these past few weeks as they pander for the voters: "Look at all this anti-abortion, pro-2A stuff, we're trying so hard for you guys!" Meanwhile when Republicans control the government, there are crickets. No legislation is passed.

Here's a little secret for everyone here: THEY ALL BELONG TO THE SAME EXACT PARTY, AND THEY USE YOUR COMPLACENCY TO SEIZE POWER AND STEAL YOUR RIGHTS OUT FROM UNDER YOU, AND HAVE BEEN DOING SO FOR 60 YEARS OR MORE

2
HeavyVetting 2 points ago +2 / -0

Even if she does, the uniparty pretenders she supposedly works with will not support her.

1
spratville 1 point ago +1 / -0

I like MTG, but this is just political theater. Nancy won't bring it to the floor for a vote, and if she did, there isn't a damn dem going to vote for this in the dem controlled house.

13
HeavyMetalPatriot 13 points ago +15 / -2

She's creating a template for the red states to enact individually. It's a good start and possible on the state level - even county level - even though useless in Congress.

1
VonBustacap 1 point ago +1 / -0

I agree.

11
Colonel_Chestbridge 11 points ago +13 / -2

Who cares? Would you rather she just sits around whining on Twitter?

At least she is pushing her ideas instead of giving up like a spineless RINO.

TippyTop1987 0 points ago +1 / -1

I'd rather her do something effective. A million before here have introduced, essentially, the same exact thing.

6
Colonel_Chestbridge 6 points ago +6 / -0

There really isn’t a whole lot just one representative can do. All they can do is try their best to spread/push their agenda.

What would you rather she do?

4
TippyTop1987 4 points ago +4 / -0

I don't disagree with you there, I just hate seeing the same old tired script play out.

I guess I would like her to do what I would do in her position, burn the fucking place down and become a pariah. I think I would gather as much dirt as I could and then just start blasting it everywhere. I think I would mimic left wing tactics against the whole of congress, liberty and fortune be damned. Now, I know that is vague and bombastic but I could really sit down a figure out somethings that she could do but I mainly don't want to see her get caught in the same trap of political theater. She already has no future with the majority of the House, they are going to use every tool against her, she should use that as an opportunity to do as much damage as possible.

I'm not against her at all, I like her.

4
Colonel_Chestbridge 4 points ago +4 / -0

Haha man I feel that. I often think of doing the same thing, might even try to go for it in the near future.

5

I love how we get bills like this when there's ZERO fucking chance of them passing.
Where were these bills 3 years ago?

11
unclebobinator 11 points ago +11 / -0

This bill wouldn't even pass 3 years ago. Only a small handful of Republicans really care about the constitution.

6
Donger-Lord2 6 points ago +6 / -0

A small handful? More like 2.

3
MAGAlorian 3 points ago +3 / -0

True.

3
Colonel_Chestbridge 3 points ago +3 / -0

I agree with you, this is my biggest issue with Ted Cruz. Hell, he even puts poison pills in his own legislature. Just look at his term limits bill.

But to be fair, MTG is new and I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt. I’d rather they make legitimate efforts to try even if they are doomed to fail. At least her ideas are getting publicity.

2
theblackprince 2 points ago +2 / -0

Let me break it down for you. There are 15-20 people in congress who care about this country and their constituents out of 535. They are the extreme minority and are ignored by everyone, including their own party.

6
paulej 6 points ago +6 / -0

To be fair, I think we could cut every federal department 50% and life would be better. While every department likely has some value, I also know every department has considerable waste. Federal Department of Education comes to mind. My state has one. I'm sure yours does, too.

8
Donger-Lord2 8 points ago +8 / -0

You mean 100%.

7
NullifyAndSecede 7 points ago +7 / -0

Start with the IRS and the rest will fix itself.

2
CuomoisaMassMurderer 2 points ago +2 / -0

The IRS is only the collection agency for the Fed

2
NullifyAndSecede 2 points ago +2 / -0

The IRS/Taxation is the only reason anyone is forced to use the Fed's trash dollars.

3
paulej 3 points ago +3 / -0

I always keep an open mind about the potential usefulness of any organization. But, there are definitely some I feel could probably be entirely eliminated. What is amazing is when I say this, some people are unaware that things like the federal Department of Education didn't exist before 1979. America did well for 200 years without it.

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

I am convinced Betsy DeVos was picked solely to shut down the DoE. She was the perfect person to do it. I see no indication she even tried.

4
CM_3 4 points ago +4 / -0

Every federal department has a duplicate at the state level. We don’t need the feds intervening at the state level

3
theblackprince 3 points ago +3 / -0

This is why the entire govt just coalesced behind ousting Trump. The threat from MAGA was wiping out hundreds of thousands of govt jobs, careers, pensions, and other kickbacks. They responded as one to the threat.

Nah, 145 Boeberts, 145 MTGs, and 145 Gaetzs. As for the Senate, being able to clone the Ron Paul of 2012 would have been great, but we might have to settle for 100 Josh Hawleys. Good enough.

4
georgiaboycameron 4 points ago +4 / -0

Shame it won't go anywhere but still glad she's representing me. Its an attempt.

4

3
MAGA_CENTIPEDE 3 points ago +3 / -0

MTG is fucking based one of the few good members of Congress. Of course the fake news media and radicals left are trying to get rid of her

3
crazyjackel 3 points ago +3 / -0

So... people realize that they write legislation ahead of time and try to load it up so that when they get power they can just force it through. They get the votes from the whips during this time.

A lot of legislation proposals stay on the shelf for a couple of years, so this might come back in a few years.

3
QuietAmerican 3 points ago +3 / -0

Its a good start...but abolishing the NFA and gun control act of 68 are what I really want

3
BS2020 3 points ago +3 / -0

it shows us who is going to fight and who isn't -- and so far, there are a LOT of weak-ass republicans,

Its time to stop funding a lot of the federal govt bureaucracy. EVERYONE else in America has had to cut back --except the elites of course who keep trying to act like they're just regular folks but aren't -- NOW its time for the government to start cutting back too. This bill should just be a start -- the more federal jobs we nix the more people will be out of work and have to "learn how to code" as Biden put it, and finally realize their policies to make sure they had jobs to create more policies IS NOT helping our country.

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

3
james43552352345 3 points ago +4 / -1

She is a fucking WARRIOR. No wonder dems immediately went on the offensive against her. That's how you know you have a good candidate in office. If the dems immediately go on attack mode, they know the person is a threat to their power.

3
UbiquityZero 3 points ago +3 / -0

Her and Lauren along with Gaetz are the only ones fighting still. I’m appalled states haven’t already considered themselves 2A sanctuary states.

Jaysus. This site has some value but the constant Jew-bashing has gotta stop. It makes the whole site look like conspiracy-crazed morons. Just use "hoi-polloi" or, if that confuses you, "plebs" and your points will resonate better with ALL who agree with you on the salient issue, instead of those who agree with your point AND who want to kick their fellow victims of communism in the head just to feel superior.

With a dem lead in both chambers and the illegitimate occupation of the presidency, this act is about as worthless as the paper it’s typed on.
